Teneth paused nervously once he set foot on grandisle, a small knapsack in his arms and his custom tailored outfit from Fireteeth. He looked sharp - not too well dressed, but better than some ruffian. His outfit was mostly grey with trimming in purple, the house colors of Creighton. He'd made a point of also snatching up another outfit in another House's colors so he could come to Grandisle and do a little sneaking about, investigating things, while supposedly on errands for another. At the time, he'd also dirtied his skin up to appear darker, and now he was well-cleaned and looking good.
Now was a good time to get into the manor; the Lord and one of his sons were gone with the Queen on a massive expedition of Naruta, and only the second son was running the household staff. Teneth reasoned he wasn't used to the duties either, which would make it easy to sneak by so long as the household staff itself didn't suspect much. He would try to be quick.
He carried the knapsack in his arms as though delivering a bundle and worked hard at the illusion that he knew precisely what he was doing and where he was going and was in a terrible hurry so there was no time for chitchat or questions. It usually worked, and he found that nobody spared him a second glance as he wandered around the house until locating the servant's entrance in the back. He waited until someone came out and then went rushing up, murmuring, "Scuse me!" The maid, who had come out to beat some rugs clean, kept the door open with her hip while he darted inside too swiftly for her to comment.
Hardest part is done, I think, Teneth thought to himself as he walked in search of the family study.
