Kura sat on the edge of the Lustful bower, lost in thought. The sounds of pleasure and the undulation of squirming bodies did little to bother her anymore (not that they ever much did, though they did used to be a great deal more distracting.)
Both her mother and Drake had succumbed to the sleeping sickness, and while it felt like the world should end with two of her parents comatose, she'd come to notice that things went on. There were plenty of priests who were not touched by the same troubles she were and those priests wanted to just get on with life.
She now hovered on the edge of seventeen, an age in which many of her peers were graduating into full priests on their various paths. She was due to present her tests soon and for the Wrathful path she was confident in her abilities. But... As for Lustful...
She hadn't really gone beyond the bare basics of lust. She'd given herself over to Thistle (and played around a little with Lysander) but hadn't gotten terribly adventurous. As far as the Lustful were concerned, she was sorely lagging in her 'studies.' The problem was, she just hadn't the heart for it. The only thing that'd kept her from dropping out sooner was a mixture of curiosity (perhaps she was a late bloomer?) and the handy excuse that being a Lustful made to allow her to freely gravitate between two men. But she'd begun to realize that her feelings on some of the more standard Lustful fare weren't going to change so quickly and that being a Soahcian, did she really need an excuse to keep two lovers?
But now her mother had fallen ill and she couldn't bring herself to sever that tie she had to Dreamwarp. If she quit being a Lustful now, it would feel something like a failure. And that irrational part of her mind also thought that it might somehow jinx her mother into never waking.
So she'd dragged herself back to the Bower and parked herself down to watch. Now it was just a matter of mustering up the energy and desire to do something more than stare... But it was hard.
