People of Sensatia, as ever, we stand on the edge of changing times. My father gathered the communities up and brought the Minds together into this great city of Sensatia, a city that some, like me, have always and only known as home. And when he built the city, it was against a world full of uncertain reactions and perils. Our history is fraught with tales of our people being exploited for our extraordinary abilities and so we hid, scattered to the winds. And when we came out from our hiding, our long memories left us wary and cautious. And thus, the infamous defenses were put into place.
But time has shown that our fears were for naught; indeed, instead of war or aggression, we have found many of the other nations eager to bring us into the fold that is the whole of Naruta. Our union with Fira was the first great step; next we joined the information alliance of the United Naruta and from this the idea of embassies and ambassadors has been born. It's possible that in the future we will cast out and forge strong bonds with other nations like New Anarlina or the Khelek Crystalands or perhaps even the exotic Firegem Islands. Who knows? But peace reigns now, and Forces willing, it will continue to do so for a very, very long time.
Why should the face that Sensatia presents to the world be one of such paranoia and fear of others? Why waste the money and resources into fueling defenses that are not used and may never need to be? For these reasons, and more, I call an end to our several-layer defenses of the city.
I would not see our fair city completely defenseless, however. Our great wall will still stand, a sign of our determination and will, but it will also have doors, open to the public. There will be guards at the doors to ensure that Sensatia is not suddenly flooded with the malcontents and predators. The moat will still remain, beautiful as well as protective, and a humble reminder of the gifting of land that Ronduin offered us shortly after the devastating Clear Wars. The Sentries will remain, for we are Minds, vigilant and watchful, our third-eyes always open to the world around us.
May we step into tomorrow with good will in our hearts and a readiness to accept our Elemental brethren in the spirit of peace and harmony. Minds of Sensatia, brace yourselves... For a brighter future.
