Mind if I stay for a song or two?(Bard's Guild)

A well-dressed man approaches the bardic guild during a rainstorm and knocks on the door. He does not seem to quite know where he is, but walked determinedly and almost gracefully. Adjusting his clothes self-consciously, he awaits any sort of reply to the knock. Even though he himself may not be a bard by trade, he could seem to be a potential student or someone seeking to hire a bard. But why would either be out late at night during a rainstorm or seem to expect whoever answers to care how much attention is paid to appearence?

Savannah bounded up, as it was her turn this time to help at the front. She had a smile that could be seen on her often whether she is working or not. It seems that she was perfect for her role as maid of the Bardic guild, she fits in seemlessly with the rest of the company.

"May I take you're cloak sir? I can show you where you can rest and get dry afterwards."

She held out her hands for his cloak, her words full of pep. She was a delightful contrast to the rainstorm outside in most every way. Her dress was modest, long skirt and black button up blouse. She had two green gemstone earrings, which were as close to class as her attire achieved.

The man smiles slightly and steps in after inclining his head in a sembalence of a bow. He holds out his cloak once he slips it off and says, "That would be kind of you. By the way, who is my host this evening? I do not recognise this place at all and it feels odd to be under the roof of someone I don't know the name of."

Savannah took his cloak and disappeared for a moment before returning with a smile. She knew it was rude to leave him after a question but she could only do one thing at a time. She answered honestly and politely when she returned though to make up for it.

"Well sir, this is the bard's college, so there is no formal host I guess. I'm as close as they come now that I think about it," she allows herself a quick giggle, "but there are of course the deans and chairpeople that make sure everything goes smoothly. Follow me please sir."

She shows the man into a large room, one that looks sort of like a very comfortable inn. She shows him a particular seat by the fire, in which she gestures for him to sit. On the set up stage one of the bards in training was working his vocal cords.

"Can I get you anything in particular?"

The man follows and gives Savannah a nod of thanks before sitting on the edge of the chair, though closer to perching with his back stiffly straight than sitting normally. "In that case, m'lady, I am Croix Pavoni of Maelstrom; a pleasure to meet you. I'm not quite sure what there is to drink here... why don't you surprise me with something that you find enjoyable?"

She watched his mannerisms, and almost wanted to tell him he could relax here but decided in the end that for each thier own. It wasn't her place to tell guests how to relax, she just had to do her job and part of that was making sure this particular man left happy.

"Certainly Mr. Croix. Give me a moment and I will be right back."

She returned moments later with a rather gleeful looking drink. Something that she always made for herself using a mixture of citris juices and some salt for flavor. She handed it to him and smiled, waiting to see his reaction.

"Don't let the appearance fool you though, I like my rum rather heavy. Most people end up choking when it catches them by surprise."

"Why thank you," Croix replies. "I'm not going to ask you to stand while I sit, though. Care to take a seat?"

He takes a sip then adds, "Oh where are my manners? I've been speaking to a lady and never bothered to ask who she is. Forgive me... and what is your name, miss?"

[adris]

She blushes for a moment or two, it wasn't like the customers to get so friendly with her. Usually now was about the time she was asked to leave them in peace. She truly didn't know how to react, but eventually let in and took a seat like she was offered. No reason to be rude, she is his host for the night.

"Thank you sir. My name is Savannah, as you can see I am just a maid of the Bards guild. What brings you here?"

She sat and kicked her legs a little, a cute little whimsical look was seen on her face. She wasn't anything spectacular, but could manage cute very well. It was mostly due to nerves that she kicked though, she really hasn't been in this position before.

Croix looks over at her, and smiles. He finds her quite charming, and tries to stay as still as possible -lest he cause her to act more formally or flee just by moving too suddenly- though he shivvers a bit when some rainwater that had been caught in his damp hair slides down his back.

"I came to the guildhall to try to be permitted to come in away from the rain... though I came to Talen'sul for a change in scenery from the halls of my home. Seeing the same thing over and over is not comfortable on the eyes."

She sees him shiver and begins to investigate the cause. She thought the fire would keep her warm until... ah, the culprit was found as his hair continued to drip. She pulled up one of the towels on her serving tray she had set down and daintily begins to dry where she sees the problems.

"Halls huh? Does that mean you are a rich man of some sort, I bet that would be the right life to have. Going where you want on a limb, only working to fuel your fancy."

She didn't realize what she was doing as her duties as a maid made it so her actions was almost mechanical. When she was satisfies she had the dripping problem contained for the most part she just smiles a proud smile. To tell the truth she was just doing what comes naturally to stop herself from blushing too brightly at the odd experiance.

"Of a sort, yes... I am not quite a noble, and I'm sorry if that fact dissappoints you." Croix closes his eyes feeling suddenly warm, and almost... like he was home. Home maybe not in the physical sense, so much has home in the sense of feeling like the current place is where he belongs. "There are dangers to it, though... Political actions, robbers, and feeling as though the eyes of many are watching my every move make me feel as though I would enjoy a life as a poor bard more."

He opens his eyes, then adds, "Perhaps we wish to spend a day in each other's shoes, to use a phrase I have heard before. You seem interested in living as one wealthy, and I seem interested in living at least a day as one of only common means..."

He sounded like one of the many philosophers that wander into the guild for some free music from time to time. She mused in her head about the man, she was beginning to warm up to him, despite the fact that this wasn't in her job descriptions.

"It's even better that you aren't a noble. That means you made yourself, and keep out of those horrible little battles for supremecy that are happening all the time. It is respectible if you care what I have to think."

For the longest time the only nobles she had to look for were the ones from Maelstrom. Back in the days before Shadow's heavy hand she could remember how frightened her parents always were of names such as Melissian.

"Thank you for the compliment... and I do agree that the battles among nobles are often for petty reasons." Croix shakes his head slightly, before adding, "But that is about enough about me, and about status. Shall we move on to a more pleasant topic? For example, What do you like about working here in particular, rather than all the many other places in this world?"

[adris]

Savannah was already happy though, she didn't mind what the subject was really. She was off her feet for a while and sitting next to a gentleman who seemed, rather interesting admittedly. Best of all, she was helping her designated patron, so there was nothing the bosses could say about it. It was guild sanctioned fun and she enjoyed it.

"Well, I really never thought about going anywhere else. I was born in Talen'sul and just kind of stayed here. I don't have many skills to tell you the truth, so working here as a maid of sorts fit me best as far as money making goes."

She wasn't trained in politics or steelwork. Her mother never told her how to weave or knit, and while she was schooled she never performed well enough to go to a higher level of professional schooling or shadow a professional. So, she didn't prefer working here, more like she was stuck with doing it if she wanted a job where she could both make a living and not totally hate it.
