In need of a healer|Rivenway, Ronduin

As soon as the group arrive on the shore of Ronduin the twins sink to the ground, too tired to move. It's been a long trip after all. Worryingly, Amaro's only woken up a handful of times through out the trip, the last of which was several days ago.

Each time the group has meet a water type who's been willing to help with healing Amaro, the swordsman has gotten slightly better, but several of his wounds are badly infected, swollen and hot to the touch and even when he's awake, Amaro's feverish and not entirely aware of what's going on around him.

Vortai was still active, although he was pretty much working only on adrenaline at this point. He looked back at those following him and made a pushing motion to tell Talon and Alethia that they could relax for a moment. He was going to run into town and find wherever the professional healers congregate.

"I'll be back, I heard there are places for this kinda thing in the city."

He went in, hoping that since these people worked in emergency situations they would be easy enough to find in case of an emergency. He didn't even wait for the chance protest from his friends behind him, they were too close to not finish now.

Laura was as exhausted as the girls, but bent to fuss over them. Curiously, Alethia started to do the same. Laura raised a brow at the young mother, who gave a little shrug and went to the duty to making sure they were comfortable.

Talon was oblivious, looking at Amaro and doing silly, pointless things with the man to make him more comfortable, but in reality just to give him something to do.

People generally ignored Vortai, figuring he was just going on his way as all people are. One young lady did bump into him, though. "Oof," she grunted, stumbling back. The blonde girl, clad in a bright orange cloak, shook her head and glanced at Vortai. "I've just got the worst luck in running into people," she sighed. "Are you okay?"

Teardrop merely snuggles against Raindrop before closing her eyes and falling asleep while the older twin just gives Alethia a wary, mistrustful look and wraps her arms protectively around Teardrop. "Laura, is there any food?" Raindrop asks tiredly.

Vortai ran into the girl and stumbled backwards a few steps, but for the most part held onto his footing. He shook his head to reorient himself and find out who he absent mindedly stumbled into.

"It is I who should be sorry, I was in such a hurry I wasn't paying attention. Since you are here, do you know where I can get a healer or find a house of healing. My brother is outside with terribly infected wounds and he needs to see someone."

He was about to reach out to give a woman a hand in helping get her mind straight as well, but then pulled back remembering where he is. The people here might be friendly, but right now he shouldn't gamble with the hope that he found one of the kinder souls.

Laura starts to shake her head, but Alethia exclaims softly and takes her pack off, rummaging around and doling out rations of their food. She presses the heel to a loaf of bread into Talon's hand and forces him to eat it.

"Of course," the girl remarked. "My name is Lily, by the way." She smiled at him, then grew more serious. "If he's that badly off, he probably shouldn't be moved much. I'll go fetch some of the senior healers." She beckoned, indicating he should come with, and dashed off to the House of Healing.

It was a quiet place, well kept and smelling strangely sterilized, despite the numerous people held here to be tended to. Lily weaved between cots and busy healers until she spotted one of the older men, bent over a glass bottle. She cleared her throat and he glanced over.

"Yes?"

Lily pointed to Vortai. "His brother is very sick, infections and all, and needs help."

The man frowned. "Oh dear. Right, right, just a moment." He didn't even need to grab anything more than a satchel that was laying nearby. "Okay, take me to him, young man, and tell me what happened to cause this."

Taking the food, Raindrop gently shakes Teardrop awake. "Time to eat," she tells her groggy sister and hands over Teardrop's share before both girls hungrily eat. Although judging by the speed the pair scoffed the food down, it's doubtful either of them even tasted it.

Vortai walked with the man, as fast as the man seemed to be able to keep up with him. He kept saying silent prayers that Amaro would be all right after all this.

"Well, he was caught by some terrible people who tried to torture and break him. We freed him before he was totally undone but left in the position you will see him in."

He walks to the front gates and leads the healer over to where everyone was resting. He made a motion with his hands to Amaro, although it was hardly needed in this case. With a sigh he stepped back and gave the healer room to work.

The elder healer winced slightly at the tale, but at least he knew what he was getting into. On a rare, rare occasion, a fellow Water type who had been enslaved made it back to them and they usually managed to save him.

He stepped closer to Amaro and then made a shooing motion to the others around, kneeling. "You might not want to be around for this part. It will get a bit gut-wrenching."

"I'm staying," Talon said with fierceness. Alethia didn't really want to, so she gathered up Spice and kissed her husband goodbye, heading towards the nearest inn. Laura grimaced as well.

"Come on girls," she whispered. "Let's follow the nice lady and maybe she'll buy us rooms."

The twins just nod quietly and follow Alethia to the inn.

Vortai looked to the women going to the city and almost decided to follow them. But something stopped him, a sense of duty made him want to stick behind and watch over his brother. He took a couple deep breaths and stood behind Talon, his eyes weary with fatigue.

Talon glanced at Vortai and gave his shoulder a little squeeze, approving of his brotherly duty to Amaro.

The healer washed his hands and rubbed his lower back, which had gotten sore during all the work. "That's the best I can do," he remarked, putting his things away. "He should be safe to move, so we'll take him to the House, where we'll keep an eye on him." The man looked at the two men.

"Thank you," Talon said softly, looking a little green around the gills.

Vortai thanked the man. He had seen blood and killing before, but such a thing done to his brother did make him queasy. He knew it was to help though, and that gave him heart to stay and keep his lunch down. It was nothing but relief when the medic finished.

"all right, lets carry him in then, I will help you Talon. Lead the way if you please good sir."

Vortai moved over to take an arm and a leg, while he is safe to move the thief thought that it would be best to keep him as best to prone position as possible during the move. He just hoped that Amaro got better and soon.

Talon shook his head and wordlessly lifted Amaro up on air, as he had done for the entire trip, then helped to guide Amaro to the house of healing. By the time the man was set on a cot to be taken care of, Talon wanted to drop. "Vortai, I know we both must be exhausted. Shall we take shifts to wait on Amaro to wake up then?"

Vortai got his brother into a cot and smiled softly. He was just happy that he could bring his brother to safety. He was exhausted, his breath was short, he was sweating profusely. The most annoying thing was the pinching in his chest. It went away when he took a deep breath but he couldn't seem to catch it suddenly.

"Yeah, that would be best. We did good right Ta-"

And he blacked out at this point. Lack of food, overexertion, all the trauma, and the fact that he only had the body of a sixteen year old all caught him now that the adrenaline ran out. The last thing he felt was his head smack against something solid when he fell.
