[Kender Bard]

Luna entered the room her parents were in without so much as a knock. Laura was dozing lightly, and didn't start when Luna approached.

Luna cleared her throat to get some attention, folding her hands and looking solemn.

Flash and Saph glance over at her silently before Saph winces and murmurs Cloud's name misrably and both of the brothers look away. Saph's leaning on Flash now, getting the older brother's shoulder wet with a fresh flood of tears.

Luna stiffens at that and has to remind herself not to glare. His pain was so thick, she could almost taste it. Instead, she tried a gentler approach. "Father..." She approached him and reached out a hand to touch his shoulder. Laura stirred and sat up, looking sleepily at the proceedings.

"Did you know that Queen Lya has told the people of Talen'sul to return home?"

It wasn't really a sentimental start, but she had to try something. Laura just blinked.

"I think I recall Tuono telling me," she said. "Recently."

Luna nodded. Good, good. "Then it's probably time you both got going to. The people will need their Lord and Lady." She almost winced at how cold her words were. But she didn't know what else to say.

Laura just sighed and nodded. She'd been thinking the very same thing.

Neither Flash or Saph even show any signs of hearing Luna, both merely staring blankly into space. There's unhealthy tint to their skin and shadows under their eyes revealing a lack of eating or sleeping. Flash does move slowly to wrap an arm around Saph as his brother cries, but there's an odd longing for comfort that crosses his own features.

Laura looks at them in concern, tongue tied. Luna feels that heat flame up in her again. She narrows her eyes and moves right in front of her father and Uncle.

"Did you hear a word that I just said, or are you ignoring me on purpose?"

Flash looks at Luna for a minute and murmurs, "something about Talen'sul... Doesn't matter."

"Nothing matters," murmurs Saph, his tone an exact copy of Flash's - depressed and guilt-ridden.

"Saph," Laura calls out plaintively.

Luna glares. "Does that include your living family, Father?"

Saph gives a start at that and for a moment surprise and regret flitter across his features, then anger. "Leave me alone!" he snaps, getting up to leave. Even more odd then Saph's sudden anger is that the exact same range of emotion crosses Flash's expression, settling on an identical expression of anger as he too gets up and makes for the door.

Laura blinks - she wasn't so sleepy that she hadn't caught that. Touching her sign she places a wind wall in front of the door to bar them. "No."

"No," Luna echoes. "If you leave, now, then... Then I guess that means you don't love us!"

"Please come back and sit down, and speak with us," Laura pleads in a far more gentle voice.

For a moment rage clouds the brothers' expressions as they come up against the wind wall and Flash even moves to touch his storm sign. When Luna's words and Laura's plee are spoke though, Flash stops and blinks a few times, seeming to snap out of a daze, while Saph moves to try and comfort both his wife and daughter.

"Of course we still love you," Saph says as Flash, almost as though prompted by something, moves to hug Luna and let Saph focus on comforting Laura.

Luna pulls coldly away from Flash, her face expressionless. She had seen the move her Uncle almost made. Laura happily accepts Saph's comfort, though, hugging him closely.

"I'm sad too," she tells Saph. "But Cloud wouldn't have wanted us to spend our days forever mourning. He'd have wanted us to do our duty, as he did, and so I think that we should leave in a few days to return home."

Hurt clouds Flash's expression and he steps back and just stares at the family for awhile sadly, unknowingly triggering a fresh wave of regret and sorrow in Saph. The younger Calder brother tears up again, absent mindedly rubbing his sign as he murmurs, "I should have been there..." Near the doorway, Flash also rubs his own sign, almost as though it's itching.

Laura looks at the two, frowning. Luna just watches impassively, wishing she hadn't come, wanting to be with Xavier where she's at least happy somewhat.

Thoughtfully, Laura wraps her arms around Saph and says to Flash, "Would you please give Saph and I a little while alone, Flash?"

Both brothers look uncomfortable at the idea, Saph even moving half a step closer to Flash. "Why?" asks Flash, his tone and expression hurt.

"Why not?" Laura counters, doing a much better job than Luna to keep her anger from her voice. She's starting to get scared. "There are some things that a wife needs to be alone with her husband with, no matter how close the brother-in-law is."

Luna is tired of this. "May I go?" she asks dully. Laura sighs and nods. Luna parts the windwall and leaves.
