Flame hummed to herself as she groomed her horse and toyed with the idea of going for a ride. Her return to Fira after her long absence had meant a sharp increase in her workload as she strove to win back the hearts and minds of her clan, sharpen the scouting and hunting skills that had gone a little rusty with the soft life of a Sensatian noble and to catch up on the usual lessons that formed her training to be Elder.

But despite all the work, she was glad to be home and back in her proper place. This was what she'd been raised to be since birth and she could imagine no other life. Particularly at the moment, when she had a couple of sun-marks all to herself and plenty of choices as to how she might spend that time.

She was just about to reach out to Aly and see if the young Naurorod heir was also free for a ride when she heard someone approaching her. With a warm smile (and a silent prayer that her free time wasn't about to vanish), Flame turned to greet whoever was coming.

Johan, an older scout and quite good at his work, but not one who Flame has spoken to often. He's tall and fit, and tends to wear his hair tied back and out of the way. Since she's gotten home he's been keeping an eye on Flame. She may have noticed now and then, and he's quick with a grin when she catches his eye.

"I've seen you training since you returned, it's good to see that you haven't lost any of your skill while you were away." He smiles and reaches out to pat her horse on the neck. "I was about to head out for a ride, some company would be nice, if you're not busy of course?"

Flame's smile grew into an answering grin at the praise, even as she blushed a little and tucked some hair behind her ear. She'd let it grow out while she was in Sensatia, but her far more active life in Fira meant it was constantly coming lose from it's ponytail and getting in her eyes. She intended to find someone to cut it short again soon.

Her hair wasn't the only change that had occurred during her absence from the clan. She'd gained height and the barest beginings of a woman's curves. All of which combinined to hint at the attractive woman she would become over the next few years.

"Thank you, I tried to keep myself sharp. And no, I'm not busy," she replied easily. "I was actually just thinking about finding someone to go riding with myself."

"What good timing, I'm just get my horse then." Good timing that he'd found her with some free time and happened to guess at what she was going to do. It was what he'd been waiting for, a chance to get chummy with the elder to be. It isn't long before he leads his horse back. He's quite proud of his horse and it shows. The dark chestnut stallion is always meticulously groomed and kept. For his part the horse is full of energy and eager for his daily ride.

"Ooh, he's very nice, Johan," Flame commented, giving the stallion an admiring - and just a touch wary - look as she mounted her mare. Riding a mare and a stallion together could be dangerous if both riders weren't skilled and Flame was too well trained as a rider to relax until she saw how much control Johan had.

"What's his name?" she asked as she waited for Johan to mount up. The Clan Heir's eyes are bright with eager excitement to be off on her ride.

"This is Scorch." Johan answers as he mounts up himself. The horse tries to side step closer but behaves himself after a nudge to his side. "Don't worry, he'll calm down once he's had a good run." He grins to Flame before nudging Scorch forward. "He's just excited to be going for a ride with two pretty ladies."

Flame blushed again and silently cursed the fact that spending so much time indoors in Sensatia had her skintone creeping back to her natural pale skintone. She wasn't as pale as say, Libre, but she wasn't burnt dark anymore either and that would take time to return. Which meant her reaction to Johan's compliments was easily visible.

"You flatter us both," she replied, grinning. She was pleased her voice was calm at least. It was rare that one of the adult scouts paid her too much mind when not on duty. She didn't want to spoil this by acting like a silly child now. "This is Wind Dancer. Where do you want to ride?"

Johan rolls his shoulders in a shrug, he didn't really care where they went. "I'll let you decide, were you planning on somewhere in particular before I showed up?"

"Not really," Flame replied. "I was thinking about heading over to the inner boarder and seeing if any of the scouts on duty there need anything. Does that sound all right to you?"

The inner boarder was Fira's last line of warning before any threat reached the clan. It lay about a sun-mark's ride away from the clan and was patroled usually by the younger scouts, which freed the older, more experienced scouts to patrol the true boarder of Fira's territory - which was usually the more dangerous job.

Johan grins, it was still a fair ride, and there might be a chance to show off. "Sounds good. Now, can your mare live up to her name?" He lets Scorch go into a canter, he'd wait for Flame to catch up before letting the stallion really run.

Flame grinned, clicking her tounge and giving Wind Dancer a light kick. The mare instantly broke into a trot, then moved smoothly into a fast canter then a ful blown gallop. "Catch us if you can," Flame called teasingly to Johan, grinning in delight at her mare's speed. There was little Flame loved more then a good fast gallop through the desert sands.

Johan lets Scorch break into a full run to catch up, admittedly enjoying himself as well. The stallion, full of pent up energy, displays an impressive turn of speed.

Flame laughed and let Wind Dancer gallop until the horse showed signs of wanting to slow down. Dropping back to a walking pace, Flame grinned at Johan. "Nice riding."

He slows down as well and flashes her a prideful grin. He bites back a comment along the lines of 'of course it was'. "Not bad yourself."

Flame giggled. "Thanks. It's good to be home," she remarked. "Dancer and I can't ride like that back in Sensatia. Not enough room for galloping in the city and I didn't get to leave much. Have you visited Sensatia?"
