Alexandria strolled from her last job towards her own home, weary and unhappy. She'd seen an older boy beating a dog and had started to intervene but couldn't bring herself to do so, instead leaving the scene without a word. I should have stopped that child, she thought, so deep into her own musings that she was scarcely paying attention to her surroundings.

A young man is making his way through the street in the opposite direction, his nose in a book and paying about as much attention to his surrounding as Alexandria. Unfortunately they happen to choose the same path and he bumps straight into her, exclaiming in surprise.
"Oh, no no, I'm sorry, it was entirely my fault." He holds a hand out, ready to help her in case she wasn't quite steadied yet. "Are you all right? I didn't hurt you did I? Oh I'm just a clutz sometimes."
Mistaking her nervousness for possibly being hurt, maybe trying to hide it, and he can't help but wonder what she seems so scared about. He reaches for his sign and uses empathy to send calming feelings to her.

Alexandria feels a sudden calm settle over her and she relaxes and slows. But she knows that's wrong because she rarely relaxed when she'd gotten herself worked up in a tizzy. Still, it was hard to feel annoyance with the empath washing her mind with soothing feelings. Instead, she just glanced back over her shoulder at him with a quizzical look. "A-are you using empathy on me?" she asked.
The man looks a little abashed and clears his throat, "Well, yes." He quickly tries to defend himself, "I just feel so bad about upsetting you so, I didn't want to ruin your whole day. I work at an empath parlor and make people happy all day...I thought maybe I could help."

"Well," Finley fidgets a little, trying to think of a way to make things right, "If you'd like, I can try to make it up to you." He offers a smile, "You can stop by the shop I work at and I can help you really relax."
