The natural threats to Mount Humontis for autumn are the appearance of deathwings and bloodtrees. Deathwings appear as large bats, however, they have a second mouth on their abdomen. These creatures will fly through darkness and then drop on prey and latch on with both mouths, sucking blood rapidly from both orifices. Bloodtrees appear as normal trees but are in fact actual creatures. The branches are flexible appendages. The bloodtrees will grasp onto prey and either crush them with squeezing or flail them against a hard surface until dead. They devour their victims by moving on top of the--their mouths are located beneath the "trunk." Both are solitary creatures. Deathwings are most active during the night whereas bloodtrees are most active during the day.

Both the Deathwings and the Bloodtrees continue to be a problem into the winter months.

Also now present is a creature conglomerate known as the Vineweb. These creatures are omnivores that appear as simple, normal vines either hanging from trees or along the ground. They are all interconnected into a giant web. These creatures will wrap around unsuspecting prey and choke the life out of it, then absorb the nutrients over time while keeping it wrapped in a plant-like cocoon. If one part of the web feeds, the entire thing is nourished.

With reports coming left right and center about the every growing problem of the DeathWings, Bloodtree's and now the Vineweb, Layla was starting to feel as though her headache would never go away.
Finally, having enough of this, she order that any Earth plants be sent out to push the Bloodtree's back to more acceptable and tolerable numbers. She called for small hunting parties to gather and began to take down Deathwing with the specification to avoid extinction if at all possible, as to not throw off any part of the ecosystem they might be part of. And finally she gathered several herbalist that she felt were trustworthy and asks them to begin experimenting with herbs and spices that might be able to be used as a pesticide in either a powder or liquid that could control or kill the plants.

These threats have been eliminated. Humontis is safe once more.
