There is a sickness going around Naruta. It's symptoms vary by land. Susceptibility depends on a few factors, which will be outlined at the bottom of the post. Stages of the illness will be added over time, and announcements will be made when they do.
Stage 1 illnesses are mild, uncomfortable, not life threatening, merely annoying, and easily dismissable as a number of other things. Individuals who throw off their sickness at this stage suffer no adverse long-term effects.
Talen'sul/Anarlina
Stage 1: Coughing
Stage 2: Wheezing, bouts of asthmatic attacks
Khelek/Morilanta
Stage 1: Flushed, sweating
Stage 2: High fever
Morilanta/Ronduin
Stage 1: Nausea
Stage 2: Vomitting, especially whenever ingesting fluids or moist foods. Violent vomitting in response to healing water.
Ekaitz/Beastlands
Stage 1: Easily irritated
Stage 2: Uncontrollable fits of rage
Humontis
Stage 1: Mild muscle aches
Stage 2: Intense stiffness, locked muscles/joints
Naurorod
Stage 1: Random goosebumps, random shivers
Stage 2: Hypothermia
Anarlina/Maelstrom
Stage 1: Faint, random muscle twitches
Stage 2: Random "mild" seizures, short lived
Sensatia/Ilyamen/Reave
Stage 1: Mild headaches
Stage 2: Some hallucination, intense migraines
Susceptibility
People most likely to contract the sickness are those with 2 or more signs, those in their "prime" (ages 20-35), and those with extensive elemental training. An individual who meets multiple criteria is at greater risk than an average person.
People with the same signs are more susceptible than mixed.
People whose signs correlate to the land are more susceptible (ie, Winds in Talen'sul, Storms in Maelstrom, etc). One does not need to have lived there their whole life, simply being in the area on a trip is enough to increase your odds of contracting the illness.
Winds and Storms are most susceptible in Anarlina
Ices and Waters are most susceptible in Morilanta
Minds in Ilyamen are most susceptible
And finally Beasts in Ekaitz are.
Clears are generally resistant to the sickness, except those with "mixed" ancestry.
Except for those in Naurorod, healing water is not effective. It will alleviate the symptoms though.
Bloodboil will not cure the sickness, but will alleviate the symptoms. Stage 2 Fires suffering the Naurorod sickness will find their condition worsened by Bloodboil.
Except for those in Talen'sul, herbal remedies are not effective.
Updates to follow.
EDIT: For those who like to roll/randomly assign chance to contraction, try this formula:
25% base
+5% for 2 signs (10% for 3 signers) (7 and 12 for same signers)
+5% for "prime" age
+5% for extensive sign training
+10% for correlation to land
