Etaf had called for a gathering.
The Forces stood, looking at their eldest sister, wondering what this was about. A couple were irritated; they were busy monitoring important developments underway. Etaf and Taed seemed to chafe the most at this delay from their scryings.
As Etaf glowered angrilly at her breathren, the other Forces fell back a little before her. "You have all been meddling with mortal affairs far too much as of late! I have watched as each of you thought to gift the mortals of Naruta."
"So?" Soahc asked, crossing his arms. "It's not like we don't hand out blessings like candy when we feel like it."
"This is different!" Etaf shouted at them. "These gifts you have so wantonly thrown down to the mortals are far, far beyond what they have any right to wield! Each is a great and powerful item, capable of destroying whole nations! And what's worse is that they are falling, one by one, into the hands of Morilanta. Do you have any idea what might happen if they were to gather all those items of power together and use them?"
The Forces were silent though all knew quite well what would happen. They weren't sure what to think or feel on the matter. Nations were constantly being redefined, shaped, rising, falling. Although never had there been a single nation since the splitting of the elementals...
"It was not meant to be," Etaf said simply. "If all of Morilanta manages to subdue and crush the entire world, then Evil will gain a foothold over Love and that could spell disaster. I know, I know... They are spread amongst all of the mortals. But none of you can See what the future of our infant Force-children holds but me."
"I wanna see my babies grow up!" Soahc protested, voice suddenly lilting up to female pitches. Etaf glared at him-now-her and she swallowed hard.
"It's not enough to simply demand that you bring your 'toys' back home," Etaf replied evenly, shutting her eyes and lowering her head, as if in contemplation. As she spoke, an ethereal mist seemed to form slowly about her, confusing and worrying the other Forces for they had never seen such a thing happen before. "No. I think you all forgot just how we have made the mortals, what drives them, how quickly they fall to temptations. Not only that but as I watch you all from above, I notice that many of you seem to handle the mortals carelessly, as though it is a game to you."
"We are above the mortals, and are not like them," Taed replied simply, a bit pale in the face of Etaf's fury but holding his ground. "We are deific, perfect beings, embodiments of the order of the world."
"I resent that," Soahc piped up, starting to turn back into a male. "I am the DISorder of the world."
"Whatever," Taed muttered before pressing on. "We have no need to be like the mortals. We are not mortal."
Etaf smirked and opened her eyes. Fire poured forth from them and the Forces gasped. "Then perhaps we should change that." Currents of air and water rushed about her and a pillar of earth and stone, lifting her up above the other Forces until they had to crane their necks to see her. "I, Etaf, Force of Fate, by decree of the Elements that made you, temporarily banish you all to the mortal realm, to walk as mortals would walk, in the bodies of mortals. This punishment will stand until you have fetched the items of power and destruction back from the mortals and returned to your homes. Only then will you ascend back to your proper place; a place earned back after your follies."
As the Forces cried out at this punishment, they felt the power of the Elements engulf them, pulling them, stripping them bare of all godly illusions and powers, down to their very essence, and then hurled down to Naruta.
Etaf sighed and lowered back to the 'ground' of the heavens, but still seemed afire with more power than her body was ever meant to be imbued. She alone, with the guidance of those who made her, would see to the machinations, order, and disorder of the world while her brethren were gone.
