Song of the fireflies

The setting sun was covering the skies in pastel colors and the evening breeze brushed over the tall grasses of the fields of the Beastlands. Through the tall grasses something moved swiftly and quietly, never slowing for an instant until it hit the border to the forest where the grass thinned.
Cautiously a small figure slowly crept out of the grass. Straightening up two cream white wolf ears twitched in the wind as they listened to the sounds around them. The soft breeze, the rustling grass, the call of bird.
Silence.
A nose raised into the breeze, sampling it's odors. New grass, new flowers, the smell of pine and fresh water.
Safe.
Carefully the small figure of a child rose up from the tall grasses to silently survey her surroundings. The gently breezes played with her creamy hair and made her ears twitch. Her white slip of a dress billowed lightly in the wind revealing her fluffy wolf tail beneath. Satisfied that she was not being followed or that there we no threats, she darted into the words with a set destination in mind. As quickly as she had run through the grasses of the plains, the young wolf girl moved with equal swiftness through the underbrush. She did not slow until she was well into the woods away from any marked trails. This place, only she knew, this place was hers and hears alone.
Walking though the brush she smiled to herself as she observed the forest life. Finally she came to it. A small spot hidden deep within the forest, surrounded by bush. A small brooke flowed gently into a pond below an over hanging log of a old fallen tree. Swiftly the girl leaped over to the log and stat herself down, letting one of legs hang down, her foot nearly touching the pond's surface. She looked down at the ruby eyed reflection of herself. Innocence stared back at her, evidence of a sheltered life, one that she knew her bother had sacrificed trying so hard to preserve. Eyes unclouded by hatred, never to see that of war or the cruel realities that man had brought unto themselves. She had come so close to it, but fate had intervened then. Just then a small glow caught her sight. It was tiny as if floated just above the water's surface the vanished. She smiled and looked up to see another little light and another. Slowly more tiny lights began to float around her and she smiled and watch in wonder.
Fireflies.
This was their home, their haven, just as it was hers, and tonight, like past nights before, as she had for several years, she would engage with them, letting her heart tell it's tale of the sacrifice she and her brother made. So, taking a cal breath, she let the soft melody go from her lips.
"Yuuyami semaru kumo no ue itsumo ichiwa de tonde iru
Taka wa kitto kanashikarou
Oto mo todaeta kaze no naka sora wo tsukanda sono tsubasa
Yasumeru koto wa dekinakute
Kokoro wo nani ni tatoeyou taka no youna kono kokoro
Kokoro wo nani ni tatoeyou sora wo mauyona kanashisa wo
Ame no sobo furu iwakege ni itsumo chiisaku saite iru
Hana wa kitto setsunakarou
Iro mo kasunda ame no naka usumomo iro no hanabira wo
Medete kureru te mo nakute" (I'll translate it again later)
Little did she know that someone might hear her.
