Up in the sky! It's a bird! It's.. death!

[Kender Bard]

The priestess, Phoebe, trembled and shivered as she walked along, clutching her cloak tight to her body. "It's so cold," she whimpered. "I have never been this far north! How can people stand to live here?"

Lukas kept calm and shivered again and held his cloak closer to himself. "I'm not sure priestess. But we should be getting close by now."

[Northen Light36]

Zap looks at the other two in mild surprise. He's wearing slightly thicker clothes then he'd normally wear, but that and a good jacket are all he's wearing against the chill. "It's not that cold," he remarks. "We're nearly there."

[Kender Bard]

"Thank goodness," the priestess sighed. Overheard, there came a loud screech as a circling dot in the sky grew bigger and bigger, taking on a green tinge.

"Is that normal?" she asked, shielding her eyes and looking in with growing alarm as the Yrthak grew closer.

Lukas shielded his eyes as well and looked up. "..I'm not sure..but it looks pretty big.." Lukas took a deep breath and reached for his bow. "Zap, should we worry?"

[Northen Light36]

Zap's already setting an arrow to his own bow. "If that's what I think it is, yes," he replies, firing off an arrow. Even if there's no chance of hitting the monster at this range, it might startle it. "Priestess, get under cover, quickly!"

[Kender Bard]

The priestess wasted no time, finding a large rock formation and doing her best to crowd underneath it, watching with fearful curiosity.

Up above, the Yrthak paused just a moment when the arrow was fired before diving down closer, releasing a great blast of sound at the pair of mercenaries, shattering medium to small rocks from the force of the sound concussion.

Lukas reacted quickly and grabbed Zap by the arm while quickly touching one of his mind signs to teleport them both behind some cover. ~How do we fight this thing?!~ Already he works on unslinging his bow.

[Kender Bard]

The Yrthak hovered in the air above the ground, suddenly confused. Its prey just ... disappeared. It dropped lower and slowly circled, trying to locate where the elusive quarry could have gone. At this range, one can almost think the creature is blind - no obvious eyes are apparent.

[Northen Light36]

Zap stays silent, aimming an arrow carefully, waiting for the right moment, entirely focused on the Yrthak. Then he releashes the arrow, watching the weapon fly towards the monster.

[Kender Bard]

The closer range, the arrow makes contact, piercing through one of the soft membranes of the wing. This causes the creature considerable pain, and it bellows but is still able to remain aloft. Now it turns its head towards where the arrow came and shrieks - missing, but sending large chunks of rock flying through the air.

Lukas tries to use his mind signs again to try and telekineticly push the incoming rock upwards enough for it to soar over them before trying to draw his bowstring back and fire an arrow at the beast as well, aiming for the other wing.

[Kender Bard]

The rock was knocked aside, but Lukas's aim was off. In his haste, the arrow flew off course and struck the beast in the eye as it suddenly banked - a pure, lucky shot but it had the desired effect. The Yrthak gave a great and painful screech before flying away.

[Northen Light36]

Zap blinks, then laughs. "Good shot Lukas. Come on, we better hurry and get out of here. Those things sometimes hunt in pairs."

Lukas blinks at his shot. "..But..I was aiming for it's wing like you did.." He shook his head and just counted himself lucky before putting his bow away and hurrying over to Pheobe. "Are you all right priestess?"
