Soaking up the sun...|Clan Char | Naurorod

((Okays, attempt number two! XD Hooya! Let's hope this time, it doesn't die....*whince*))

A couple of yards off the travelled path, a girl of ambiguous age lay in the sand. She seemed fast asleep and perfectly content to rest under the blazing heat of the desert sun. She wore nothing but a simple soft-leather dress and her skin was a shock of white against the golden sand.

After a time, she opened her eyes, irises as green as splintered emeralds shone in the daylight. She stretched luxiouriously, her long snake's tail curling up in the sand beside her. Not getting up, the girl craned her neck upward to stare at what looked like a bizare stone. "Wakey, wakey, father Shabi..." she smiled, long fangs glinting, "Nari's hungry again..."

The rock suddenly uncoiled, it was a large, hooded snake, --Nariobi's hungry already? Fine, then Shabi will help Nari find another prey...-- Nariobi giggled like a small child and quickly got to her feet, not even dusting off the sand on her pale skin. She lent an arm down to the king cobra and he crawled up onto her shoulders. The barefooted girl then began to walk down the road, not quite certain of where she was going...

Conleth is out hunting as well, without great sucess. The Char warrior has never been a brillant hunter, but today it seems the prey has all been frightened by something. Frowning, he sets out to see if he can find the source of the problem.

((eheh...sorries^^= I guess it would kinda be redundant in an already flat desert...))

Nariobi childishly began to hum and incoherent tune as she walked, Shabi, who had promised to help, had already fallen asleep in the lulling heat.

After a time of this, Nari suddenly stopped and tilted her head. She blinked her green eyes, then shielded them from the sun with her hand to better see. She was right! A small stand of trees (or what was left of them) was just over the dune. A perfect place for potential prey!

Giggling, the pale snake girl scampered accross the sand, waking the cobra around her shoulders in the process.

Conleth looks up at the sound of giggling, his spear firmly in his hand. "Who's there?!" he calls. "Come out and let me see you."

[Toyoll]

Nariobi stopped dead in her tracks and fell silent. She curled her tail around her legs, Shabi had already raised his head and spread his hood. The young cobra timidly stepped forward, keeping her unblinking, emerald eyes on the stranger. Shabi was hissing faintly, ready to defend his surrogate child.

Conleth looks around again, frowning slightly, but not too concerned. "Come on, whoever's there. Come out and let me see who you are. I won't hurt you."

Carefully, Nariobi approached the stranger, she spoke in a flat tone, "I'm right here, sir."
The odd girl's arms hung loosely at her sides, her tail still around her legs, the tip flicking occasionnally. She riveted her large, green eyes on Conleth, despite her healing, a strangeness still lingered in her gaze.

Conleth felt slightly unnerved by the girl, but she still invoked a sense of pity. "You look hungry," he commented. "Would you like to come back to my clan with me? I can get you a good meal there."

[Toyoll]

--Careful, Nari...-- hissed Shabi.
"Should I go?....I am hungry...." the girl whispered back
--...You may, but do not stray from Shabi.--

The king cobra didn't want to smother Nariobi's newfound trust in society, but he worried for her still. Should anything happen and the girl had a violent relapse...Shabi prefered not to think of it.

With a shy smile breaking her monotonous glare, Nariobi nodded to the stranger, "Who are you?" she asked quite directly.

"My name is Conleth," Conleth replied. "I live here, but I've never seen you before. What's your name? Where did you come from?"

[Toyoll]

The young cobra pointed to herself, "I am Nariobi." she pointed to the creature on her shoulders, "This is Shabi." and she pointed east, "We come from over there."

The adolescent girl smile innocently, "It's nice and warm here. Conleth's home is very nice."

"You must have walked a long way," Conleth comments. "And thank you. I think it's nice here too." As they near Clan Char, Conleth says, "Nariobi, when we get to my clan, I have to introduce you to my leader, Charanth. He's the Elder of the clan, so he has to know when we have guests. After that we'll get some food, all right?"

Nariobi nodded silently, like an obediant child. She was excited to meet these people Conleth spoke of, but she was nervous too. The strange girl fiddled with the tip of her long tail, even bouncing her fangs harmlessly on the hard scales. Shabi, meanwhile, was on alert, his hood wasn't drawn, but he lifted his head.

Conleth smiles. "Good," he tells her. "And don't be nervous. Charanth likes children." Smiling, he leads the young Beast into the clan and looks around. "Anyone know where Elder Charanth is?"

Nariobi cast her emerald gaze about the place, her eery eyes soaking up the sights. She wondered what Charanth was like. The elder liked children, but what about Beasts? Was he a warrior or a peaceful leader? Was he old or young? Was he like Conleth, or completely different?

Such was the thought process of the young, rather naive teen.
