[Devon]

Kalian having left Lucid with his parent's decided that he had gone too long without seeing Cascata. Walking towards her offices cautiously, he stood in line and waited until it was his time to set an appointment with her. Hopefully she'd be just as happy to see him as he would be to see her.

[Kender Bard]

The clerk looked up at Kalian, giving a little start. "Kalian!" she exclaims, recognizing the Mother's beloved by sight. "What are you doing here? You know the rules."

[Devon]

Kalian gave her a nod. The clerk's reaction wasn't as bad as he had expected it to be. "Of course I know the rules. Lucid isn't with me and no one ever said I couldn't come see her alone. Is Cascata busy right now?"

[Kender Bard]

The clerk narrowed her eyes and tapped her quill tip softly against a sheet of paper's corner. "What do you want to see her for?" she asked archly.

[Devon]

Kalian rolled his eyes. He knew she was doing her job, but still she was pretty nosy. "As I am a citizen don't I have the right to call upon the Mother for a question or two that I have?"

[Kender Bard]

"If you were an ordinary citizen, yes," the clerk agreed, steepling her fingers. "But you're not... Still..." She sighed. All that mattered, really, was that the heir was not here and he clearly wasn't. "Okay, but if I get in trouble for it, it's going to be your ass and not mine." She reached over to a little rope and pulled it. Somewhere in the upper floors a bell tinkled. "Go on up."

[Devon]

"Thank you," Kalian replied. "And I won't get you in trouble." Turning from her desk, he left to go up the nearby stairs to see Cascata.

[Kender Bard]

Cascata was hastily arranging things about her office-home, wondering who the clerks could have sent to her now. When she saw it was Kalian, she dropped the handful of papers she held with a delighted cry and hurried to him. "Oh! Kalian!" She hugged him tight. "I've missed you so..."

[Devon]

Kalian returned her hug with a warm smile. "I've missed you too." He was glad to see she really did miss him as much as he had missed her. "Your clerk nearly threw me out of here, but she was nice enough to let me come up. I know it has been a while, but I really wanted to see you."

[Kender Bard]

Cascata kissed him gently and brought a hand up to stroke his cheek, his hair. She wanted to touch him and drink him into her soul as though they would never see each other again. She never knew if that might someday be the case and savored each moment as it came.

"You're not supposed to see me," Cascata sighed. "But I'm ever so glad you were stubborn. How long can you stay? How's Lucid? He must be growing into such a lovely boy."

[Devon]

"I know I'm not," Kalian replied. "I just had to. I can stay for around an hour today." Kalian moved to take a seat, of course bringing Cascata with him. "As for Lucid, I'm not sure yet who he takes after more, but he is going to be quite the charmer later on."

[Kender Bard]

"Then he must take after you," Cascata remarked firmly. "For you have certainly charmed my heart away, forever." She held his hands firmly, rubbing them, gazing at him as a young lover gazes at her sweetheart. "Tell me more of our son. Please? Oh Forces how I miss him..."

[Devon]

Kalian smiled and leaned against her shoulder. Looking up at her he told her of Lucid's growth. "He is a bright child, perhaps too bright for his own good right now. He always has a question and Lucid isn't happy unless he is getting to the bottom of some mystery. His first was who kept taking his clothes and folding them." Kalian chuckled as he recalled the antics of his son. " I think he is going to make a fine Father when his time comes."

[Kender Bard]

"That's good," Cascata sighed contently. "I'm so proud of him. I suggest you take him around to Mentis someday, if you can get the time and money for it. I'd like to see him run around and bug all the priests." She giggled.

[Devon]

Kalian smiled and thought on that suggestion. "You know, if you could lose your royal company for a while we could arrange for Lucid and I...including you to be somewhere else."
