The Peddler's first appearance|Skyheort | Talen'su

Riding into the market district of Talen'sul, a rather average looking man rides a small cart driven by a single pony before stopping it and stands up to begin hawking his wares. "Come one come all! I have right here with me some of the finest medicine from Humontis, prepared by expert herbalists, guaranteed to cure any minor ailments and even the worst of illnesses can be fought off long enough to acquire the aid of a Water healer. This is a real bargain folks, step right up!"

[Darastrix]

Brooke tosses her long red hair back over one shoulder and peers at the peddler. Quickly she decides that the man himself held no interest for her--too plain. His wares, however.... She strides up to the cart, arms behind her back, and raises up on her toes a bit.

"Have you any herbs to prevent pregnancy?" she queries.

[tuo]

The peddler smiles at Brooke. "Why of course young lady. I have several herbs that can be used to help prevent pregnancy, I may also have one of those alchemist cures that is claimed to do much the same thing, but I wouldn't trust stuff like that if you have a choice."

[Darastrix]

"Alchemist cures? I've never heard of such a thing," she comments. "Do they taste better than those teas?"

The peddler strokes his chin thoughtfully. "I wouldn't really know for myself. Most people don't trust them..they use chemicals or something instead of herbs. But I have seen them work enough to keep some in stock, even though herbs seem to work more of the time in my opinion, if you are strapped for cash you can buy one of the alchemist cures, they are cheaper."

[Darastrix]

"I'd rather have the herbs, then," Brooke decides. Just because she sleeps around doesn't mean she's stupid. Herbs might be more expensive, but they're a lot less compared to the cost of having to raise a child. "A month's worth."

[tuo]

The peddler nods and roots around in his stock a few moments. "Aha, here we are. This is quite a lot so I don't believe I can accept anything less than say...fifty copper coins for the whole bunch."

(Of course..if you feel like it feel free to barter. )

[Darastrix]

"Fifty copper?" Brooke gives the man an incredulous look. "I can get that many herbs here for thirty. From Humontus or not, I can't see paying more than thirty-five."

[tuo]

The peddler winces. "My dear, these are top quality herbs carefully preserved from Humontis, I would be astonished if you could find another in this city that can honestly make the same claim." Almost as an afterthought however he added another price. "Fourty two copper."

[Darastrix]

"Make it forty, and you have a deal," Brooke replies. "And I can get you a room at one of Talen'sul's largest and best inns if you need a place to stay the night."

The peddler hums as he considers that offer and takes Brooke's hand to shake it. "It's a deal." He smiles. "And that is a very kind offer ma'am. But my lifestyle requires me to be prepared to serve the customer at anytime I am needed."

[Darastrix]

"Suit yourself," Brooke says, counting the coins out of her purse with a slightly puzzled expression. Honestly, she doesn't see the appeal in sleeping in a cart of all things, but if he doesn't want to stay at her father's inn, that's his business.

"Here you go," she says, handing the money over.

The peddler smiles kindly as he trades the herbs for her coins. "Pleasure doing business with you. Perhaps next time we meet I will have more than just medicine to sell."
