A soft pattering down a side street was the only sound anyone could hear, if anyone was, perhaps, listening close enough to discern it. It continued for a little ways and then suddenly stopped. Were anyone to look out a door or a window curiously they would see naught but shadows.
The tall cat beastman that was hiding in plain sight couldn't help but to smile. That was quickly gone though as she thought about her now objective. She had heard through street rumors that a merchant liked to hide out on this street, trying to stay hidden himself. A silly thing, especially if one did not do everything to conceal ones wealth.
There was money in plenty to be had here; she wanted some, a lot to be truthful. After hours of listening to rumor she finally located the building that he was in. Dipping her slender fingers into a small pocket, she pulled forth a small, sharp object. Crouching before a nondescript door, she took her pick and began working at the lock.
In her own, slightly humble, opinion, locks were always a fun test to try. Some were difficult, others sadly easy. This one was middling difficult; after several minutes she found the catch and popped it open. Putting her trusty tool back in her pocket, she opened the door, silently.
Creeping in, she closed the door behind her; then, on all fours she moved swiftly forward, ears swivling, listening for any indication of wakefulness. She continued forward and came to a staircase. Surely, she thought to herself, he will keep his goods and money close to him. So, upstairs is where I must also go.
Going up the stairs was easy and she approached one of the doors and cracked it open, discovering the merchant sleeping under the covers. A quick glance revealed nothing but a small chest in the room. Closing the door and backing out, she went to the only other door that there was and opened it.
Now here, was the stuff. All sorts of goods and chests; she went in and almost closed the door. Rustling about she opened chests to see what the contents were. Finally, finding the one she wanted, she gathered together several handfuls of the coins and placed it on a piece of cloth that she had a particular liking for and tied it up.
