Meet the Family|Fields of Flora, Humontis

[adris]

Adris rode into the lands near the fields of Flora, it was a slow trip with him taking his time for his wife and child to finally make it to Mount Humontis. He reigned in the oxen and gave the mount a happy glance from a distance.

"Raina, dearest, would you like to see your parents first before looking for my Aunt and Uncle? I guess that would just make sense, but I am checking first. I don't know if your father has warmed up to me yet."

It has been so long since he last even spoke to what is left of his family. He isn't even sure if they are alive still. Add to that his son being a clear... well he wasn't sure about how they would take that either. It isn't like him to jump to conlusions, but there is quite a bit he is always worried about during a homecoming. He hopes River is in a good enough mood to not eject him this time around. That man never seems to be able to have a good time though, even if the way fell into his lap.

Raina cuddles Consus against her chest, keeping him warm and kissing his little nose with a look of pure adoration. "Tell you what, my love, how about you find your family while I inform Father that we're in town. That way I can help prepare the house for us."

Adris smiles simply, watching his beautiful wife taking care of the child he loved. Clear or not, he was starting to come around a little to Consus, even though holding the child causes the same problems of reminding him of Fauna and that whole terrible event. Being able to see Raina more often was enough to get him to kick the habit of taking unnecessary chores around the house during the child's waking hours.

"Very good Raina, I will tie up the team then and I will meet up with you right after I am one hundred percent sure of where my family has scattered around the mountain."

He does just that, and after giving Raina a kiss goodbye he wandered off to the great library in order to look at the census notes. He petitioned a librarian that he knew well enough to see if whether or not he could see them.

"Oh I am terribly sorry master Warendo, but due to recent events census notes have been privitized so non-Humontis citizens cannot see them. They will become public after the next election though."

Adris didn't know what idea made him wince more, the idea that he might have to go see River for the notes or whatever could have happened to cause the mount to more securely keep this information in check. He figured he would find out about the latter after meeting with the familes though, right now he had a duty to Raina to find them. He nervously walked off to the Senate doors, and found them unlocked as always. At least some things never change. Inside River sat at his desk, seeming to be a little busier then usual, which lowered Adris's hopes of getting what he wished for.

"Umm, lord River, you might remember me, I'm Adris Warendo, formerly of the order of Humontis monks."

River looked over to Adris, regarded him with a rather odd look for a moment as he was trying to put his thoughts together. Then put away his papers and rose to greet the man.

"Ah yes, Mr. Warendo, I remember you from before. The exception to the rules if I recall correctly. What do you need?"

Adris swallowed hard and mustered a response, "I know you don't respect me much for my exception, but my wife and I had a child and I need to find my family and..."

"And you need access to the census, consider it done." River walked back over to his desk to write out a slip of permission quickly.

"I knew you would say something like that, but please I be-" Adris thought to himself for a moment, doing a near double take while River went to get the note, "Wait, you said you would let me?"

"Of course, it would be awful petty of me to deny you ability to see the ones you love, I understand how important such things are. Plus I recognize you, so no harm done either way."

He passes to slip to Adris, which the man takes with a salute before excitedly scurrying through the door. He speaks in a hushed mumble after he makes it outside.

"Wow, he must have been able to get rid of some stress recently or something."

Not waiting another moment he goes back to the library and turns in the sheet to be able to look at the necessary census information. With a pen and quill he writes down the two necessary adresses. Snapping a quick yet formal salute to the librarian he quickly heads off to the house of Raina and her family. His last worry was how well they took the news of Consus when she first introduced the boy.

Adris comes to a house that's rather quiet, but at least not filled with tension. Raina's father was eyeing his new grandson warily as the infant played on a shaggy carpet near the now-covered fireplace. Raina was chattering away from the kitchen, beginning to fill the home with savory smells. Spotting Adris, her father sat up a little straighter. "Hello Adris. Raina said you were looking for your family. Have you found them?"

[adris]

Adris stepped in and the first thing that caught him was the smells from the kitchen. It made his heart skip and his stomache growl with a bit of hunger, which he tried to embarassingly cover up. Adris walked into the living room with his hand over his stomache, like he really felt he was able to hide the sounds like that, and took a seat at the edge of the carpet his son was on so he could be close to the boy.

"Indeed I have, luckily they have stayed together over the years. I hope that everything has been going well with your harvests recently sir? I have heard that there might have been a disturbance or two recently..."

He trailed off there, keeping an eye on Consus as the boy played. Adris even reached out and gave him a touch on the belly whenever the mood struck him. This was in all just one of those soft family moments to the monk, who has missed a lot of them while working the farmland near Ronduin.

"Underground is where the worst of it was," the man sighed. He watched the father and son before him. "So, Adris... Has your son been giving you much trouble?"

Raina couldn't hear from the kitchen, above the noises that she was making. Otherwise, she would have protested such a rude question.

[adris]

Adris gave his father and law a quick look, but that faded quickly as he believed that the man wouldn't be asking about that. He had to admit though his first reaction was going to be asking what in the world the man meant by that question.

"Well, you know, he is a baby. There is the normal maintenence that comes with that, but otherwise Consus has been an angel to his mother and I. He seems quick to learn too, which I am sure helps Raina out a lot. So, I guess to avoid being too roundabout in answering your question, no, he has been a good boy for his mother and I, havn't you?"

He smiles, obviously adressing the last part to Consus himself. He rubs the top of the boys head softly, with a happy sparkle in his eye. This is his son, and the more time he has had to really consider that statement, the more he learned to care about the boy.

Raina's father regarded Adris closely then nodded a slow acceptance. "Will you be going to your relatives or will they be coming here?"

[adris]

Adris settled down for a moment, not wanting to jostle Consus too much off of whatever was keeping the child interested in. He thought that they were going to his families house seperately, as he didn't stop to inform them to come down here.

"I will discuss it with you all when Raina is ready to settle down as well. It really is your house so it isn't my place to go inviting my relatives down here. I don't know if you met all of them yet, as there are only five of them in the Humontis area. It is good to see you again by the way sir."

Raina entered then, cleaning her hands on an old apron she found. She smiled radiantly at Adris, going to greet him with a kiss. "How was your search, my love?"

[adris]

Adris returns her kiss with love, nodding his head to tell her that he did indeed find where he needed to go. It was a good experiance finding them, something which he didn't expect.

"It went well beautiful. Although it seems as though there was some troubles underground recently River, in an uncharacteristically good mood might I add, gave me what I needed to find them. The question remains whether you want to go up and see them, or if you would like me to bring them down here?"

He looked up to her inquisitively, with that constant touch of adoration he always had for her. Every day passes and he hasn't lost any of the reverie that strikes him whenever he sees her. Right now she looked especially beautiful with that smile on her face, which Adris couldn't help but notice.

Raina scooped up her son and cuddled him closely as she contemplated. "Daddy, do you mind if I go to them? I'm making pot roast so it will need a considerable amount of time to simmer." Her father nodded his acceptance. "Oh, good! Then let's go when you're ready, Adris."

[adris]

Adris happily nodded to Raina and held the door open for her as they began on thier way. He didn't expect her to want to do this tonight, but it was good that he was able to get this out of the way. Besides his aunt and uncle, his family didn't even know he was married, much less had a child. He led her to the closer of the two houses on the list. His blood relative here was his aunt, although the one who answered the door was his cousin Olivia. The girl looked at Adris with a smile, and then notices the woman and child in the back.

"all right... what did you do?"

Adris did a take and then scratched the top of his head nervously at his cousin's reaction to the scene. After clearing his throat though he attempted to explain the situation.

"Olivia, I know you didn't get to come to the wedding but this is my wife Raina and my son Consus."

"You're telling me you managed to marry her? You know mom says it isn't nice to lie Adris. And this is the first time in so long that you have come to see me."

Raina blinked in puzzlement at Olivia. "M'lady, I really am his wife, and I swear that this is our son." She was confused that his family wouldn't believe him.

[adris]

Adris leans over to Raina and gives her a soft peck on the cheeck, and whispers lightly into her ear.

"Olivia is just giving me a hard time lover."

The girl at the door rolled her eyes, but couldn't help but giggling as she invited the two to come in. In the living room was Adris's aunt and uncle, along with his youngest cousin, Marshall, playing in the corner with whatever toys he had. It was his aunt that was the first to speak.

"Adris! Its been so long, its so good to see you," after hugging Adris she then turns to Raina with a gasp, "So this is the beauty you have been hiding from Humontis. I would say you should be ashamed if I didn't see why. You would have more competition then you could handle with this one."

Adris just allows his aunt to give Raina a soft hug and fuss a little over Consus. His uncle got up and they exchanged hug of thier own. The family was genuinely happy to see thier relative, although particular notice was taken to Raina and the child.

"So whats his name? What signs did the good earth mother grant him? Maybe it is fire like Adris's great-great-grandmother Laurie?"
