The senate hall was empty, even though it was long after the time for the senate to convene. There was an odd stillness in the air, including the fact that the leader, River, had yet to arrived. Even then the people were used to the usual in office bickoring of issues that havn't even been brought up yet. With the frustration of being turned away earlier in the morning, citizens are starting to wonder what it could be that leaves the tower in the center of Obsidian so cold.
River arrived, with a new batch of parchments under his arm, most of them police reports and evidence lists. In just a couple short days he deduced who was behind everything, the core of all the attacks. A man on a mission he stomped to the structure with all intent in striking down his foe. Attacking him personally was one thing, going after the very people of Humontis was a crime punishable by death. He arrived at his destination, guards behind him at the ready to adhere to his orders, he threw open the heavy doors.
In a crash that sounded like Thunder in the silence the capital he dropped all of the parchments that he was carrying. Incredulously he stood, staring at the scene. In the pulpits, only one senator stood. Dio looked down on River with a crooked grin, admitting to the scene placed before the leader. On the floor, lying in his own pool of blood, was Narcissa.
"Dio! You bastard, I should kill you right here!"
Dio only laughed, feeling the joy that is the defeat of River dancing through his gut, "Give it your best shot... you knew it was me all along River, I know you did, why didn't you stop me sooner?"
River just cringed, because Humontis dosn't give the death sentance unless someone is caught red handed or proven guilty, "I-I had no evidence before now."
Dio clapped his hands, "correct, but now you do have evidence, and you have caught me at the scene of a crime... so what are you going to do?"
A feeling of despair crossed through the heart of the leader of the Earth people. Without saying anything his eyes widened in shock, the fact that so many targets were monks wasn't so that he would be weaker when he came upon the legion leader. It was because...
"I have no chance now, if I order these men to arrest you, they won't do it will they?"
Dio smiled and shook his head to the negative.
"Blast it... I have done nothing but fail this country since my election. I only pray to the earth mother that those who trusted in my powers forgive me."
Dio didn't stand in his reverie very long, there was work to be done. He needed to make the change swiftly, so that the backlash has to come all at once. "Take him away, and send someone in here to clean up this mess. The show is over, now it is time for the buisiness to begin. Leave him alive though, for the struggles ahead we need a mind like his to point the way to the future."
River said nothing but some silent curses to the man. Allowing himself to be hauled off silently, although the legion men were sure to purposefully rough him up along the way. By the time he arrived at his cell he was throughly beated, both physically and emotionally. The cell door closed as the new senate hall opened...
And so opened a new age for Humontis.
