Lilly looked behind her, wondering where she was. From the heat, she guessed that she was in the fire element's terratory. She breathed a sigh of relief, sending a silent prayer to her guardian angel, if he hadn't died of exhustion already, she thought dryly. She briefly touched the mark on her forehead, there had been a time when she had been jealous of those who had more than one element, but she'd got over that. She prefered to have one. She wondered who lead this clan, for she guessed this was clam grounds. Maybe she could join, maybe she had been travelling for to long. She was only fifteen after all, and yet she wore her weapons with a familier weight, She knew how to use them, although she had never killed a man. Yet, she thought, hoping against hope that the people here were friendly.

Kincade, one of the border scouts, approaches Lilly with wary curiousity. Seeing that she's even younger than he is, even if only by a year or two, he feels a touch of concern. After watching for a few more seconds, he calls to her, "Are you tired or lost? You don't look like trouble so I'm pretty sure I'd be able to round up a bed for you if you're tired and directions to where you're going if you're lost."

In truth, his day had been rather dull with few passing by and almost no one around he didn't recognise. He smiles at her, trying to look as friendly as possible and he's grateful for the bit of variety the arrival added to the day.

Lilly turned slightly comforted that the arrival was just a little older that she was she, took her hand from where it had flown to one of her daggers, and grinned at the boy, it was nice to hear a human voice, she hadn't spoken to anyone for at least a week.

"I'm not lost...well I don't think I am at any rate, but I am tired. Actually I was wondering if I could join this clan, I've been travelling for five years."

She once again scanned the terrain, her eyes alert for any others who might be around. Finding no one near, she turned her attention back on the boy. He seemed friendly enough, and she felt that he didn't mean her any harm.

"Oh?" Kincade looks a bit puzzled. "I know you could spend the night so long as you don't cause any harm but you would have to get the clan leader's permission to join. Don't worry, Elder Lior doesn't seem like the type to turn away someone who really wants to become a clanmate. Do you want to see him about joining now or after you get some rest?"

[lilly]

Lilly hesitated, not sure what to do, although she was tired, she would rather see the clan leader first. She pushed her exhaustion to the far reaches of her mind and said

"The Clan Leader? If it's possible I would like to see him now, although if its' to much trouble I don't mind waiting."

She looked over the landscape again, it looked a little like her old home...but that was a long time ago, and she could barely remember it. She turned her attention back to the boy, mentally chiding herself for loosing concentration. Her old tutor, Astarix had always told her off for daydreaming, she missed him, and she wondered if he was all right. She snapped her attention back again, almost sighing with frustration. Why did her mind always wonder when she needed it the most?

"I'm pretty sure we'll be able to get a minute or two of his time," Kincade assures her. "Follow me?"

Without waiting for a reply, he leads the way to Lior's home, and knocks firmly on the door.

The Clan Leader opens the door, and smiles in greeting to Kincade before looking over at Lilly with slight curiousity. "Hello, there... who might this be?"

"This young lady didn't mention her name, but she has something to ask you, Elder Lior," the scout replies.

"Oh?" Lior resists the urge to chuckle at being referred to as "Elder" due to the fact he's barely thirty-one years old and looks a few years younger; the title amuses him, but he doubts anyone else see the humor. "A question for me? Feel free to ask, I don't mind answering."

Kincade glances over at the girl to try to convey that Lilly herself should convey her request.

Lilly smiled awkwardly, it had been a long time since she had spoken to anyone for a large amount of time. The man didn't look very old, which wasn't what she had been expecting, then again, she had locked herself away for a while.

"I'm Lilly. I came to ask you if I could join your clan."

Lilly shifted uncomfortably, she had faced down a wolf when it had attacked her without flinching, but this experience was entirely new to her. She waited for the leader to respond, her eyes wandering this way and that, she had always found it hard to focus on one thing for any amount of time.

Lior smiles, then looks thoughtful for a moment. "You do? That's good news, but I do wonder why. Would you mind telling me?"

"I wonder if something happened to her home clan, or maybe she was always an outsider. Either way, as nervous as she looks, there is probably something she isn't going to tell me so quickly."

[lilly]

Lilly shrugged, grinning slightly, she hadn't ever had a clan, she had lived with her father and mother, alone for five years. Then all she could remember was a crash, snarling and howls. Then she had been alone, and that was that.

"Well, I've been on the road for all my life. I had parents, but I think they're dead. I suppose I got tired of always moving, so I ended up here, and I like it. I just hope that you'll have me. I'm not much good at anything, but I have sharp eyesight."

She added as an afterthought. She knew how to hunt and how to cook, but she wasn't much good at cooking, generally she burnt the food. And then there was her fire power...she didn't like to use that, it unsettled her. She hadn't thought to ask her parents if they were fire as well. She had remembered brief snatched from her past that told her that her father had probably been Beast, he had seemed friendly with the other creatures...and he never ate meat. She shifted uncomfortably, her eyes scanning her area. She snapped herself back to reality, and waited.

Lior frowns slightly from sympathy after hearing that Lilly had been on the road for so long with no sign of family. He manages a slight smile then suggests, "It may not be too late for you to find something you are good at. Though tradition says that two weeks have to go by after you ask before you can officially join, you may remain here as my guest. That way, I can see how well you get along with the others, and how well you adjust to life here. How does that sound?"
