Arriving at the Gate|Thunderclap, Maelstrom

Jeramiah and Oliver reach the gate of Thunderclap Village. Jeramiah steps up to one of the guards, while young Oliver stands back, trying to hide his fear of them.
Although the expression on his face makes it clear that he is annoyed about being stopped, Jeramiah somewhat politely says "We request permission to enter the village."

The guard eyes the pair carefully, but security in Thunderclap is a little more relaxed since Darkstorm's death. "What's your business in Thunderclap?" the guard asks boredly.

"We haven't any business," Jeramiah says. "Thunderclap is our home." He gestures toward Oliver. "I've been out in the mountains training him."

"Fine, come in," replies the guard, opening the gate. "How'd the kid go? Things are peaceful now, but with Lord Shadow in Talen'sul who knows when we might need more fighters. Not everyone's keen on his new laws."

Jeramiah grins, and says "Doing well. I can tell he's going to be a fantastic warrior, as long as he gets all his training."
Oliver gets a feeling of dread, the same one he gets every time his father mentions his future. He attempts to cover the feeling by smiling at them.

The guard gives Oliver a smile in return and nods to Jeramiah. "Good to hear it. Welcome home," he says simply, stepping aside so they can enter.

They pass the guard and go into the village. Jeramiah heads back to their home, but allows Oliver to stay out a while longer. Oliver begins to walk through Thunderclap, looking for something to do.

(OOC: If you don't mind Kender, and since you said this RP needed help, I am going to wake up the last of my sleeping characters.)

Buisiness has been good since he took the employment from Lady Lya, and the new alliance between the winds and storms allowed him to set up shop within a more lucrative area. His scars have healed and while he is no longer an official blacksmith due to his lack of rapport with Shadow, he hopes that his quality will soon speak for itself. Faren walked with his trademark scowl once again emblazoned on his face, left with one arm and his help having not arrived to take his shipment to the armoury... with payment for this he can start working on his steel bows that he promised Lya a while back, a surprise for her that actually made him happy to think about providing. Right now though, he needed help... this was too much for him to carry with his limp arm. It was then that he notices opprotunity just strolling through the streets.

"Hey, you, good for nothin'. You look like you are doing the whole lotta nothing that your generation is famous for. C'mere for a second instead of asking for a loitering fine. While I can't promise that you won't throw out your back I will pay ya if you prove you can do something right."

He became his bitter self over time, even though he forgot about the election he felt he should have won. He decided over the course of the year that he would just no longer associate with the Crystallands. They are obviously too far lost to figure out how great a gift they blew by passing him up. If only Damien stayed to enforce his leadership rather then having to go through all that democratic process crap.

Oliver looks up, startled. At first he is fearful of going anywhere near the scowling man, but that fear is overcome by a greater fear of what will happen to him if he doesn't. He reluctantly steps toward the stranger.
"W- what do you want me to do?" he stammers nervously.

Faren glares for a moment to size up the strength of the boy, he should be able to hold up enough to get the job done. He nods his head towards the three small boxes behind him. Within the boxes were four short swords each and a long sword tucked in the top, adding to a decent amount of weight.

"Well boy, I have three boxes and one good arm, you do the math. No need to stutter, I won't kill ya, maybe smack you around for want of sanity but nothing more. The person I asked to help me carry these turns out to be more wanting of a brain then a toddler so I am asking you out of whatver kindness is left in my heart to help me out here. I need to get these to the armory, if you just follow me and don't trip, I will reward you by crafting you a weapon of your choice how's that sound?"

Faren hefted one of the three boxes under his good arm and tucked it almost like a loaf of bread, while ten swords would be a lot to carry for a boy this age from any other blacksmith. Faren takes pride in how light he crafts his metal while still achieving battle studiness, he has an almost egotistical smirk on his face due to the fact that an untrained child could lift this load.

"Do ye agree or no? It's an easy trip, and you never know when it will pay off to be in good graces with a smithy eh?"

Oliver does not really want a weapon, as he hates the idea of ever having to use one. However, he wouldn't dare say no to this man, plus he figures that his father will be impressed that he earned it, so he says, "Okay sir, I'll help ya."
He moves toward the boxes, and after struggling for a moment, manages to lift them. Once he figures out how to stay balanced while carrying them, he prepares to follow the blacksmith.

Faren led the way, throwing a taunt or a jab at the boy in his usualy friendly self, he arrived at the armory and dropped the boxes where he usually does, wordlessly hoping the boy wasn't so incompetent he could figure out that is where the other two should go as well. He instead takes his time heading to the quartermaster and places a note at his desk.

"Don't bother giving me my cut, send it to these adresses and I will get my payment soon enough, and I noticed you have taken better care of your teeth since I last visited, instead of rotten they have become tolerably molded."

He rolls his eyes after turning about, giving the boy an impatient stare as he waits for him to catch up. He says in an audible voice.

"A'ight, now what I promised ya. Is there any sort of device you feel most comfortable with? Or I can have you draw something if you like a special shape. While I can guarentee it will be functional, I won't use anything more valuable then iron in it's construction, so no fancy markings eh?"

"I guess a short sword would be best for me," says Oliver.

Faren thought for a second about this response. It seemed that warfare was not the first thing on this childs mind. Maybe things really are changing for the better outside of the Crystallands. He betrayed the fact that his heart actually was not so frozen with a smile at this thought, of which he made point of covering up as fast as he could.

"You don't sound too pleased with the idea of weapons, you should tell the truth boy it might get you somewhere. Coddling a gimp like myself won't get you anything in life. Would you like a trinket perhaps, a medallion? If it's nothing too big I do have some skills with silvercraft."

He throws a cold glance at the boy, almost overexaggerating to make up for his smile earlier. He then leads the way to his shop, and walks in the door first, hoping the boy would have mind enough to follow. The walls of his new shop were not as richly adorned as his own... especially since he had to use some of his ceremonial works to get the house in the first place.

Oliver follows him into the shop. After looking around to make sure no friends of his father are present - as he is sure that his father would be displeased at him for refusing a weapon - he smiles and says "Sure, a medallion would be much nicer"
