[Kender Bard]

One of the maidens that were assisting the doctors left Cascata's quarters and sought out Kalian. "Sir?"

[Devon]

Kalian looks up with a bit of worry. "Yes? Is anything wrong? Are they all right!? Please tell me they're fine."

[Kender Bard]

The maiden smiles at Kalian, amused by his fretting. "They are fine, sir. The Mother is resting now and you are graced with a plump, healthy boy. Both are waiting for you."

[Devon]

Kalian nods his head and beams proudly. "Excuse me then." Kalian hurries off into the room with Cascata and their new born son. Gazing over Cascata and his son Kalian's smile grows even wider. "My you look tired, but good and our boy..look at our boy honey. A strong looking boy we made Cascata."

[Kender Bard]

"We did," Cascata replied in a subdued voice. She did look exhausted, and drenched as if she'd just returned from a swim. But cradled in her arm was the boy. She tried not to look at him too often though. "What will you name him, my love?"

[Devon]

Kalian ponders for a moment, while he gently rubs Cascata's head. "I am fond of the name Lucid. Do you like it?"

[Kender Bard]

"I love it," Cascata agreed, gingerly holding up Lucid for Kalian to hold. She averted her eyes from their son again. "You may show him off to the people as the future Heir for a while, as much as you like. You may even ask me to throw a celebration if you wish. It's not like he'll remember it."

[Devon]

Kalian holds Lucid in his arms and his smile fades a little. "So, will I be staying in Karatio for now? Now that he is born..I know we have to go our separate ways Cascata..and I at least want you to look at him and hold him before you go. I know it will pain you the most to do this, but when you see him again as a young man..I want to know you still remember the baby he grew up from." Kalian pauses and smiles. "So you can see how good a job we both did with Lucid."

[Kender Bard]

Cascata shut her eyes; he was right, it would be hard and it would hurt fiercely. But it was the least she could do for her love. She opened her eyes and stared at Lucid until the tears came and made him too bleary to see anymore. "Forces be good," she sniffled, reaching out and touching the baby gently. "When are you leaving?"

[Devon]

Kalian wipes her tears away and hugs Cascata with Lucid in his arms. "In two days. I want these two days to last us until we can openly see each other again."
