Tres steps foot onto Clan Char's lands and smiles tiredly. "One last stop before home," she comments to the empty air. It's been a long year and Tres is quite looking forward to getting home and relaxing. The war is over, Reave can get by on it's own, Aideen is safe with her father and Tavin has gone to reunite with Tavia. As much as Tres would have liked to accompany her brother and niece to meet up with her little sister, Tres knows she's left the burden of her duties on the shoulders of her own daughter, Gemma, for far too long. A quick stop in Char to catch up on news with Charanth and to rest, then Tres is going home and forgeting that there even is a world outside of the clan for awhile.

[Kender Bard]

Charanth pulled himself away from the crowds of clanmates, jogging to meet Tres. "Hey! Tres! How are you doing?"

"Tired and looking forward to getting home and taking a long, relaxing rest," Tres replies with a rueful smile. She looks over to the clan members preparing for the races. "Ah, what I'd give to be twenty again. And what about you? How are you and your sister?"

Faith, curled up in the shadow of a nearby hut, watches and listens to the humans boredly.

Charanth shakes his head, sighing but smiling. "Tres, you've missed out on a few things that will leave me with a gray streak. My sister got married, thus giving us a new Elder, and she's going to have a baby. The tournament's in full swing, and I've had more outsider visitors than you can shake a stick at. Us Elders ought to run off and hide." He runs his fingers through his hair, remembering something. "There's bad news too." Growing more serious, he lowers his voice and says, "Tres, Damien's in trouble. Ann was kidnapped and he went off to try and get her back. He placed me in charge in his absence, and he hasn't been back since."

"Oh Forces no..." Tres replies, looking sick. She retains the wit to keep her voice low though. "Of all the things that could go wrong, that must be the worst on the list. If something happens to that child, I honestly don't think Damien would be able to take it. Do we know who took her? Or why?"

[Kender Bard]

Charanth shakes his head, looking very tired indeed. "I don't really know anything other than Damien was heading to Ilyamen. He was given a letter stating she was being held hostage more or less and if he didn't want her to die, he had better go see this guy."

Tres sighes and rubs her now aching head. "Then all we can do is hope for the best... And set a few more people to watch our borders in case there's more to this then an attack on Damien. In fact, it might be best to bring the clans closer to each other, just to be safe."

[Kender Bard]

"Everyone's coming together for the tournament," Charanth explains, feeling greatly relieved that at least that was one thing that was already being taken care of. "We'll just have them stay for an extended period. If it turns out to be longer than, say, a week, they can go back and move their homes. I can't say for Lhach Linnod of course, but that's their own fault."

Tres nods. "Yes it is. Any idea if Lior is home yet? We really should gather all the Elders together so we can discuss plans..." Tres pauses for a minute, not wanting to say what's on her mind, but knowing she has to. "Plans and the posibility we'll need to chose a new Leader. I hate to say this, but unless we know Damien's alive, there's going to be a point where we'll have to assume he was killed in his attempt to rescue Ann. And even if the child is still alive, she's nowhere near old enough to take Damien's place."

[Kender Bard]

"I know," Charanth remarks, gritting his teeth a little. "But we're not going to make any assumptions yet. Those plans can wait to the very last. As for Lior, I've no clue honestly. You were in Reave last, and that's where I last saw him. I didn't personally go to the other Clans so I'm not sure. I'll ask Ryuk later."

"Yes of course," Tres replies. "I'm in no more of a hurry to give up on Damien then you are, Charanth, but it had to be said. And at least the Clans are all here. Have you seen my daughter around? I need to let her know I'm home." Deciding there'll be nothing more of interest to be heard, Faith heads back to the guest hut to let Acqua know.

"Something's happened to Damien?" Acqua murmurs when Faith tells her the news. "And his niece?" Part of the thief's mind is snapping that it's none of Acqua's business, but a stronger part of her is reminding her that back in the war, Damien was the only one other then her family to give her any respect. Besides, while she might not be partically fond of kids, Acqua doesn't like it when bad things happen. "We'll head home to Ilyamen," she tells Faith, picking up her pack. "I can handle the walk there. And we'll see what the Guild knows. But I'm making no promises we're going to do anything."
