As tired as he is, Shadow's quite curious about the lizards and going off for a day of prayer gives him an excuse to rest in quiet for a short time. So, finding a peaceful spot to sit down, away from the city, Shadow begins his silent prayer. His mind flicks to Damien's destruction of Lacuna brought on by the deaths of some of his people, then to Lya, bringing her sign together with his so that they could protect those weaker then them from a future of slavery. He thinks of Cascata, furious and threatening to drown an army of Earths. He thinks of Flash, a hero who saved said army, torn up with guilt over having hurt Cascata to stop her. With both good and bad images of the ways in which people use their elemental abilities running through his mind, Shadow offers the Elements his regret for those times when their gift is misused, and his gratitude for having it in the first place.

Shadow's response is more immediate - and admittedly, showier. With an odd trill, the lizard darted out from where it was hiding and watching, scrambling over to Shadow and pressing affectionately against his leg with another odd trill. This particular lizard is a little bigger than average - almost the full length of an arm, instead of the forearm, and a little under half as big. Though still possible to tote around, it's considerably impressive in comparison to some of the others thusfar found. The lizard looks at Shadow, giving off little sparks of joy.

Shadow laughs softly, amused by his new companion's antics. "Well aren't you impressive?" he compliments the lizard. "I hope you don't startle Lya too much. I don't know how she's going to feel about this. We hadn't talked about pets." Shadow laughs. "Not that you're exactally a pet, are you?" He sighes tiredly and pets the lizard, taking comfort in being able to have a moment of weakness. "Lya... I swear, if there is one more delay in our wedding, I'm going to kidnap her in the middle of the night and elope somewhere and hang the political aftermath." For a moment Shadow is silent, merely staring in the direction of Talen'sul longingly, before he speaks to the lizard again. "Listen to me, burdening you with my frustations before you've even recived a name... Hmm... How about Onyx if you're a male and Ebony if you're female?"

The lizard gave a happy little perk at the name Ebony; the lizard was female. Ebony flooded her new partner with feelings of love and understanding; to Ebony, no matter what problems Shadow had, he was her partner in life and that's all there was to it.

Shadow smiles at Ebony and pickes her up, allowing the lizard to drap herself around his neck. "Well I suppose it's time to be heading home," he murmurs with a sigh.

"You know, talking to yourself is meant to be a bad sign in regards to sanity," comments a voice behind him, echoed by a second voice giggling. Shadow doesn't turn around.

"If there's another war, problem or anything that is going to give me a headache, Damien, then you found me with no memories and my signs burnt off," the Storm leader comments, reluctently turning around, then blinking. "Damien, were you aware you appear to have grown a second head? What happened? Too much ego to fit in one skull?"

"And you should see a healer about that black sparking growth on your neck," counters Damien, covering his concern at Shadow's exhusted appearence. The two Leaders exchange amused looks, each silently greatful for a chance to be around an equal for a change. "This is my neice and Heir, Ann," Damien tells Shadow, lifting Ann off his shoulders.

"Bit young to be being dragged all over the country isn't she?" comments Shadow. "Cute kid though. Come on, we'll head back to my house. She can have a drink and you can tell me what brings you to Maelstrom." With a nod of agreement, the two leaders head towards Shadow's house with Ann hurrying to keep up.
