A burning house, and a departure...|Maelstrom

Before dawn arrives, Ythrast Sythzon is staring at the flames that are quickly engulfing his once-home, and beginning to spread to others. There's no doubt in his mind that it'd be quickly discovered who started the fire, so he has to leave quickly. Turning away from the flames, Ythrast begins walking away from his home, and outside the village. Knowing his companion would be following closeby, he speaks, "The world is large, Caelan, and I have greater ambitions than this insigificant village will allow me."

[Kender Bard]

Caelan smiles widely to herself, her eyes reflecting the flames of the homes as she turns and watches for a moment longer before quickly catching up. "Any suggestions on where we should go first?"

[nohbdy]

Ythrast considers the possibilities. "We should gather strength, those with powerful elementals that will follow us. We could either go east, past Talen'sul and see what the Khelek Crystalands might be hiding, or we could go south, though Naurorod, and see what we could find at the Beastlands."

[Kender Bard]

Caelan rubs her hands together as she thinks, then turns her gaze eastwards. "I say we go east. We'll be safer that way. You'll have the upper hand against both any Wind elementals and any Ice that we stray across. Think we should bother taking those of lesser power as.. I don't know, flunkies?"

[nohbdy]

"Those who don't join us now might rebel against us later. We definately want those who are strong, but it would not be a bad idea to bring along several of the weaker ones. Even if they are just pawns to be sacrificed." Ythrast looks towards the east. "The day isn't getting any longer, and it might be a few days before we arrive at Talen'sul. Let's get going."

Caelan flashes him a crooked smile and nods, walking along with the stride of someone who fears nothing from the world.

However, it wasnt to long untill a guard returned to the village wall after his superiour sent him there from the spreading fire and spotted Ythrast and Caelan.

"Hey! What are you two doing out there?"

[nohbdy]

Ythrast looks at the guard, with obvious disdain. "We're leaving this village, what does it look like?"

[Kender Bard]

"I don't suppose you'd like to come with us?" Caelan asks, her tone veiling the threat.

[iamtuo]

The guard watches the two closely ready to try and attack if they make any sudden moves.

"Several people saw the two of you walking out through the gates during a fire..happen to know what happened?"

The guard is making it fairly obvious that whether they started the fire, the blame is most likely falling on them.

[nohbdy]

"Of course I do. I set it on fire, and left." Ythrast brushes the mark of flame on his left cheek. "This was your first clue." A small ball of glowing flames materializes in his right hand. A cruel glint appears in his eyes as he focus on the guard, and extinguishes the flame in his fist. "Any other stupid questions?"

With a sudden yell the guard chants while touching his storm sign to draw on enough power to blast both of them.

[Kender Bard]

Caelan retreats behind Ythrast and whispers, "Take him out, and quickly."

[nohbdy]

Ythrast quickly pulls down his right sleeve and grabs ahold of his forearm of his right arm, where his storm symbol is located. Focusing his energy quickly to his right hand, Ythrast counters the guard's attack with his own blast.

Ythrast's blast hits the guards attack creating a blinding flash with a loud boom which will attract more guards.
