The Sun Fest Feast

[Northen Light36]

(Year 1022, Summer, Naurorod)

Naurorod's hunters have been busy and now so are the cooks. The very best cooks from each clan work together all day to provide the huge nightly feasts for everyone after a hard day's celebration. This, more then any other time, is when people gather to chat, exchange gossip and brag about what they've won in the day's games and contests.

The very best of Naurorod's culture is on display during these nightly gatherings, from the food to the drink, accompanied by music, dancing and other forms of entertainment.

(Characters here are performing, eating and gossiping. This is a conflict free area of the Sun Fest and all grudges and arguments should be set aside while characters are at the feasts.)

[Kender Bard]

Sashi glanced about as she led Kaisila around by the hand, trying to see if she would spot any familiar faces in the other clans, but none seemed to be making themselves apparent.

"There's lots of people here," Kaisila remarked, trying to slip her hand free of her mother's. She wasn't a child after all. At least not a little one.

Lukas smiles as he walks with Sashi and Kaisila, handling the water skins for when any of them start to get thirsty or uncomfortably hot. "Well this is a pretty big event. It is pretty exciting to be here isn't it?" He asks both Sashi and Kaisila.

Lillian, sitting beside Aideen and listening to her teacher, happens to glance over and spot Kaisila and her parents. Smiling, she stands up and waves to the other girl.

Kaisila grinned and waved, slipping free of Sashi again as she walked over. "Hi Lillian!" she greeted cheerfully.

Sashi kept an eye on her but didn't bother to retrieve her daughter. "I think she's more excited to see the kids here," she remarked with a small smile for Lukas. "But yes, it is exciting isn't it? Is there anything you can see that you might like to do? The archery contest looks like it's getting set up."

"Hi Kaisila," Lillian replied with a grin. "This is Aideen. She's been teaching me about being a healer. I get to help her if there's an accident."

"Which I'm hoping there won't be," Aideen laughed, then gave Kaisila a long, thoughtful look. "You look like one of the Fira/Sensatia children, but I don't think we've meet before. And I've patched up every one of Fira's little monsters at one point or another." She grinned. "Visiting from Sensatia?"

[Kender Bard]

Kaisila nodded with a smile. "I'm Kaisila Firachild. My mom and dad are mercenaries in Sensatia." She pointed them out behind her. "This is my first time to Naurorod, and my first Sun Fest. There's so much to do! I don't even know where to start!"

Aideen laughs. "I remember feeling like that at MY first sun fest. My advice, if you want it, is to check out the horse riding display. That's always fun to watch and should be setting up in about half a mark or so."

"Aly and Dami will be riding," Lillian added, visibly proud for her friends.

[Kender Bard]

"That sounds like fun," Kaisila agreed with a grin. "I wish I could ride! We don't really have horses in Sensatia though... Well, maybe Senvasa." But who cared about Senvasa? It was a boring farmer village. Nobody really went there just to visit.

[Northen Light36]

Lillian smiled ruefully. "I don't ride very well myself. Well enough for a Maelstrom girl, I guess, since Dami and Aly taught me this visit, but nowhere near as well as they do." She sighed a little. "I still need a saddle."

"Give it time, and practice," Aideen advised, amused.

"Like every skill. I know," Lillian sighed more. "What's Sensatia like?" she asked Kaisila. "I don't think I've ever been there."

Lukas eyes the archery set getting put together and considers it. "That is very tempting..are you sure it'd be safe to get distracted like that though with Kaisila here though?"

[Kender Bard]

"We can keep her close and take turns watching over her," Sashi argued.


"It's big," Kaisila replied with a smile. "There's lots of buildings. But it feels smaller than it is because of the Great Wall, which was built to keep us all safe inside. Uhm, which didn't work that well against the demons... But I guess it'd do okay against an army. If they didn't have a lot of Minds." The Great Wall sometimes sounded stupid when she explained it.

"Anyway, there's a lot of people who perform in the streets," she continued. "So there's plenty to watch or see. Or you can go around and just visit the stores and service-places, though they usually don't like it if you hang around too long without buying anything. And you can go see the schools unless they're private. The schools are sort of fun, if you're into books and that sort of thing. Lots of people say our libraries and schools are second only to Mentis. What about Maelstrom?"

Lillian tilted her head as she considered how to describe her home. "Maelstrom's... kinda stuffy and formal, really. It's big too, but lots of the houses are really big and old and made of stone with walls around them and huge gates. I like playing in the market, but Dami isn't allowed to so I usually just spend my time with him or playing in our garden. Talen'sul's more crowded, but I like it there better. And it's really nice here too. But Maelstrom's okay, I guess."

Kaisila found it a little odd that Lillian didn't seem to like her homeland more. Maybe she was tired of it.

"I'll go see it someday," Kaisila boasted. "Even if I don't become a mercenary, I still wanna travel all over and see things!"

"Travelling's fun," Lillian agreed, brightening up. "My big brothers and sisters have been everywhere. Dami and I are going to explore the whole world when we're bigger. And Aly will come with us when she can."

Aideen chuckled. "Any one run this plan by Ann yet?"

"It's a long time away," Lillian replied. "We can tell her later."

Aideen laughed at that. "Fair enough."
