"They will," Etaf assured Zack with a faint smile. "Evil cannot stand in the face of Love."
"I will," Snowflake promised Midnight and kissed him quickly. "I promise."
Etaf glanced at Crawford with a sorrowful expression. ~That is sorrowful to hear. Still, I think the number that we have will suffice.~ It had better.
"When the rip closes, I will be gone," Etaf told the rest of the Chosen. "My strength will be gone. This portal will remain open only a short while after my departure. I suggest that those who do not wish to, or are indifferent to, watching the rip close head into the Sanctuary. Those who wish to remain, stay nearby. I will have a few of our remaining angels come with us. They will deliver Love's Chosen back to the Sanctuary speedily." Those angels would all be Minds. "And a few more will remain here to find any stragglers or injured that need transportation back to Sanctuary. Once the rip closes... It will be over. It IS over."
He swelled slightly with pride and love. "You have done it, Chosen. The demon lords have gone. This final act of the Forces will ensure that they do not return. There may still be demons in this world... Just because the way to their home is gone does not mean that they will suddenly disappear... But they will be very few in number, unable to terrorize whole civilizations. And there will be no more. Be vigilant. Be safe. And be proud. You, all of you, including those who are not standing here now, are responsible for the preservation of humanity."
He managed a smile for them all, faint though it was. "And may you all walk in our love because of it. I implore you to keep the rings we have gifted you as a sign of our respect and thanks."
There was no more to say. At least, no more to say then. Anything else would have to wait. "Let us go, Chosen." Etaf gathered the trio together and teleported away.
