For Efil's Prophet [Plot]

Thoth looked toward the temple of Haven uncertainly. He hoped Priya would be more receptive to what he had to say than the two in Acoia had been. She looked to be a priestess in his vision, so he thought his luck would be a little better, at least.

He glanced to the side at his Companion and repressed a sigh. The ibis was neither built for overland treks nor long flights, and was getting old to boot. But Iah insisted that he come, and Thoth was glad for his familiar company. He supposed as long as they had a Mind willing to help, it would be all right.

"Here's hoping we won't have to trek all over the city to find her," he commented to his human companion.

A priest notices the two, well three, and makes his way over. "Is there something I can help you with, you look a little out of place."

[Darastrix]

“Ah, yes, perhaps,” Thoth responded. “Would you happen to know a priestess named Priya? I need to deliver something to her.”

[Skittlebug]

The priest's expression turns decidedly sour at the question. "False priestess, and you certainly won't find her here. She and her followers have been playing at having a temple on the far end of town."

[Darastrix]

Thoth's brows rose at the reply. False priestess? He rather doubted that since Efil had chosen her, but he didn't care to start a debate. "If you could direct me to where I can find her, I'd appreciate it."

The priest gives them a disapproving look, but does give them directions.


The second temple of Efil, when they find it, isn't exactly as one would picture it. It's a fairly large building, yes, but still lack the grand look of a temple. Priya and her followers have been doing what they can though and they've managed a good sized following. The doors are open wide, welcoming all.

Thoth almost wanted to ask the priest if he normally judged messengers and other delivery folk based on who they'd been hired to deliver to, but refrained, instead thanking the priest and heading off to find the temple. He did wonder, though, what it was about Priya and her followers that warranted the creation of a new temple and why someone from the main temple seemed so against it. Perhaps he could ask the woman herself when he arrived.

He paused before the temple-building, looking around curiously for any hint of what made this Efilian sect so different from the main. Aside from the fact that it didn't quite look like a temple, he still hadn't a clue, so he made his way inside.

If Thoth is familiar with Efil's teachings, he'll be able to see right away the differences in this temple. A priestess is giving a sermon in the large common prayer room about all the new teachings of Efil.

A younger woman near the door greets him with a smile. "Welcome, have you come to hear the sermon?"

[Darastrix]

At the moment, Thoth was more interested in looking than listening. He had a task to complete, after all, and the handful of words he could hear before being greeted told him little, though he was Efilian himself.

He shook his head at the young woman. “I’m looking for Priya,” he told her in a quiet tone. “I have an urgent message and delivery for her.”

[Skittlebug]

"Oh, the Head Priestess? Of course. If you'll just follow me I'll check to see if she's busy." She leads him up some stairs to the back of the building and, holding up a finger when she gets to Priya's door and lets herself in. It isn't long before she slips back out and motions Thoth to the door. "She'll see you."

The room is a large but modest office. Priya is just putting aside what she's been working on. A second priest sits nearby at a smaller desk, and both of them look up curiously when he enters. Priya beckons him over, there's an empty chair opposite her. "Welcome, I don't often receive deliveries, and urgent at that I'm told?"

[Darastrix]

"Yes, priestess," Thoth replied. He glanced at the other priest, then back to Priya. "Would it be possible for me to speak with you in private?"

[Skittlebug]

Priya and the other priest share a look, and he shrugs slipping out of the room to give them privacy, but not going too far. Priya motions to the empty chair, "Now, what is your important message?"

[Darastrix]

"My message comes from Efil, priestess," Thoth told her as he took the offered seat. "To put things concisely, Morilanta has opened a door to the abyss and let demons come through and the Forces have chosen people to help set things right." He drew out a ring and held it out in his palm. "This is for you, as one of Efil's chosen."

[Skittlebug]

Priya's eyes widen at Thoth's explanation and she gives him her full attention. She isn't sure how to feel about Efil contacting her through another when she's 'spoken' in person before, but she isn't about to question Her. When Thoth offers her the ring she reaches out for it slowly, reverently, and turns it in her hands. "An important message indeed...Were there any instructions given for the chosen?"

[Darastrix]

Thoth shook his head. "She said only that she needed you and the other chosen, and that I needed to deliver these rings while she does whatever it is she's doing beyond the Veil to prepare."
