Ann sat calmly in a spot of shade, holding her daughter and waiting. Had someone been there to watch her, they would have only seen a young woman and her baby, perhaps on a stroll together or travelling somewhere. There was certainly no trace of the fear that was twisting Ann's stomach into knots on her face.
She had gone to Fira first, but only long enough to send scouts to each elder with a letter - including Tres, for she hadn't wanted to risk the older woman talking her out of this.
Now she could only stay here at the Sun Fest grounds and wait to see who would come... and challenge her Leadership. "Don't be afraid, my love," she murmured to the baby. "If I don't survive this, you'll be taken care of."
She'd spoken to Flash before she'd left, telling only him of her plan since Uncle Shadow and Aunt Lya didn't need to worry about HER safety on top of Lumi's kidnapping. Flash had promised her that he would find a loving home for Alyssa, even if he'd choked on the words.
Leaving a note for Shadow in her room hadn't been the kindest goodbye after all he'd done for her, Ann reflected, but he'd have probably found a dungeon to imprison her in if he'd known about this.
"Efil," she whispered to the sky, "let them find Lumi. Don't make Shadow grive for us both if I sparkle in the sunlight in this." Sighing, Ann turned her attention back to her now fussing daughter and continued to wait.
It would be Fira or Char to arrive first, she thought. Hopefully Char, since Charanth wasn't likely to try and stop her out of misguided loyality to her mother's memory like Tres would.
