Sashi gave her a laconic look. "We're not cutting their throats. We're giving them to the guard. Ilyamen guard. That's laughable enough as it is. And this isn't Firegem, this is Naruta." She gave a quiet snort. "You shouldn't really be so angry with us, after all. We are mercenaries; sellswords. We are merely weapons to the highest bidding hand that wields us. Maybe you should direct all your righteous rage at them instead."
She tilted back in her chair, her favorite pose when sitting. "You know," she stated, reflectingly, "Back then, back when I talked to whomever it was that visited me, he said that he would vouch for your loyalty. You see, I gave him a message. I knew something like this might come up in the future and I said to him to tell you that I will brook no treachery in my guild. He assured me that you wouldn't do anything to harm the guild or the thieves. I can respect that. My respect may have been misplaced I see. Talk is cheap and you've got your loyalties stamped clear on your face as the sun is in the sky."
She cracked her knuckles. "I'm not high and mighty, I'm practical. Don't you think you've got the moral superiority over us. And you're dead wrong. I am a very fair person. If I weren't, I'd have just waved my hand and sent my men out to clean the streets of all the thieves. Instead, I gave you an opportunity to escape that through money and by quite plainly informing you of our actions. Take the thieves underground, Acqua. Keep low. This job can't go on indefinitely. But that's all I'm going to offer. We won't kill any thieves we see, and I do hope they return they favor. If they don't, well..."
She let the implications speak for themselves.
