Dangers of the Road|Talen'sul

[Kender Bard]

Hawk leads the way, navigating the mountain terrain with as much ease as if he were walking in his backyard. The way the villages of Talen'sul are set up, he might has well been. While walking, he keeps up a general stream of conversation. Taurus smiles and nods, murmuring some nonesense in the pretense of listening for most of the trip, while he turns his thoughts inwards and puts his trust in Hawk's hands to not walk them off the edge of a cliff.

Acqua, remembering how much her friend Talon liked to talk, merely smiles and chatters back easily while keeping a sharp eye out for any trouble. Uncomfortablly aware of just how much trouble she and Hawk could be in if they run into any Storm types, Acqua keeps letting her hand brush against one of her hidden knifes for reassurance.

[Kender Bard]

Hawk pauses for a moment, then looks into the air. "The currents have changed."

Acqua blinks, confused. "What does that mean?" she asks.

[Kender Bard]

Hawk backs up a little, looking all around in confusion. "That something is coming."

At that moment, the sweetest, most beautiful song fills the air, ringing off the mountainsides.

Acqua listens for a moment, smiling. "That's pretty," she remarks, more to herself then to Hawk or Taurus. "Come on, let's go see who's singing." Without waiting for the other two, Acqua starts to head towards the souce of the song.

[Kender Bard]

Hawk and Taurus follow, almost in a trancelike state. Before long, they're pratically running.

Up on a higher peak stands a gruesome sight - the source of the song. This creature looks like an evil-faced old human with the lower body, legs, and wings of a reptilian monster. Its hair is tangled, filthy, and crusted with blood, and she's holding a giant bone like a club. Still, the beautiful music is coming from her as she sings.

Seeing the creature, Acqua gasps in horror and disgust before glancing at her companions and cursing at their trance-like state. Touching her water mark, Acqua aims a gentle stream of water at the two men to try and snap them out of the trance.

[Kender Bard]

Hawk snaps out of it fairly quick, sputtering from the water, but Taurus is more slow to awaken - he seems torn between his senses and the song.

The harpy cuts off her song then and swoops down on the group, taking a wide swing at Acqua with the bone club.

Acqua dodges most of the blow, but still takes a glancing blow to her left arm, making her cry out in pain.

[Kender Bard]

Hawk taps his ankle with the back of his heel - bare because of a special style of shoe he wears - and makes some motions with his hands while chanting under his breath. Suddenly the wind under the harpy's wings becomes erratic, and she slams into the ground. By now, Taurus is wide awake again, and he lowers his head, murmuring and focusing his energy.

Acqua takes advantage of the harpy being down to back behind the guys a bit and touch her water marking, ignoring the pain caused by even this slight movement. Concentrating, she calls on the healing ability of her element and sighs in relief as warmish water flows over her injury, healing it.

[Kender Bard]

The harpy begins to get up, but then Taurus's head snaps up, his hand touching his marking and he gives an angry roar as the harpy suddenly lifts up, propelled by his telekinetic ability. In the blink of an eye, he sends her flying, slamming her hard against the clifface. The sound of snapping bones echoes awfully in the otherwise still air, and she collapses to the ground - still alive but obviously disabled.
Hawk just blinks at Taurus, who is now looking a bit sheepish and modest.

Acqua also stares at Taurus, looking slightly awed despite her attempts to hide her reaction. "Remind me not to make you mad, Taurus," she murmurs.

[Kender Bard]

"I.. um.."

Hawk shakes his head and approaches the fallen harpy with some caution. "Just because she's down, she's not out. Those talons are wicked sharp. What should we do with her?"
