Character's Name: Joseph Melonchet (pronounced Mellow-shay)
Gender: Male
Age or Date of Birth: 19
Signs: Two elemental signs of Mind. One is on the back of his left hand. The other sign is located on the right side of his neck, directly below his ear.
Home Nation: Sensatia
Physical Description: The first thing you'll notice about Joseph is his sharp pointed eyebrows resting below his blonde, combed back hair. When he's feeling mischevious, those raised eyebrows combined with the look in his light blue eyes are a sure sign of it. At times, even an innocent smile or laugh would make him appear as an evil mastermind laughing manaically after coming up with some dastardly plot. His thin mustache and short red beard do nothing to hide his facial expressions. The cleft in his chin keeps his pointed jawline from making his face seem overly narrow.
Joseph stands just an inch or so shy of six feet tall. His slender frame is not completely devoid of muscle mass. His hands are similarly structured. Whenever you can catch a glimpse of Joseph without shoes, you'll notice unusually long toes. His demeanor reflects a person who values posture highly.
Personality: Joseph can often be a difficult person to read (without the use of telepathy). There are times when he'll stay quiet for hours, letting thoughts dance around his brain. His short attention span makes it difficult to carry on a long conversation without considerable effort and motivation. He usually avoids prolonged smalltalk due to his tendency to ramble. That's not to say that Joseph is inconsiderate. In fact, his kind nature is made apparent most often through his profession. Joseph takes great pleasure in easing the suffering of others. His sensory related abilities enable him to tap into and manipulate the feelings, sights, and sounds that others experience all too easily.
There is, however, another side to Joseph that he rarely reveals to others. The young mind elemental is, and always has been a schemer. Though he uses his manipulative abilities almost exclusively for the purpose of healing the minds of others, there is always a lingering temptation dwelling within him to devote his talents towards slightly less reputable goals. These inner thoughts are not inherently sinister. Joseph has always fought his desire for trickery, especially given his unique abilities and how easily they could get out of hand. Still... an occasional whoopie cushion here... a drawn on mustache there... Hints of his mischievous nature are present for anyone who cared enough to pay attention.
History: Born in Sensatia, Josephs' childhood was relatively peaceful and well protected. His natural talent for sensory manipulation caused many of his teachers to take an interest in him. Joseph was encouraged to pursue a career in the medical field. While other children struggled with deciding on their futures, his path was made clear at a very young age. Josephs' short attention span, however, made him an exceptionally difficult student to each. He often made more progress training and practicing on his own time than under the tutelage of an elder.
Despite his kind nature, Joseph didn't make friends easily as a child. He was a bit on the shy side, not normally going out of his way to get the attention of the other kids. The young mind elemental enjoyed the peace that came with solitude, though he didn't go out of his way to avoid people when they crossed his path. Even as a young adult, Joseph prefers smaller groups to the bustle of large crowds. His hard work has landed him an internship at a local Healatorium.
Writing/Post Sample: "Good morning." Joseph greeted his fellow students quietly as he entered the study hall. His eyes scanned the room for empty seats, briefly focusing on one seat in particular. It was the place he had spent the majority of the previous day, face glued to a gargantuan instruction manual on sensory deprivation. This time, Joseph chose a seat off in the corner since it was facing away from the window where the light from the morning sunrise would have otherwise distracted him.
About six hours had passed with the rising sun now high overhead. Then, without warning, the peace and quiet was abruptly interrupted by the subtle sound of flatulence coming from somewhere in the middle of the room. Joseph looked up from his book to see a red faced student in the center of the room with an expression of both confusion and terror as most of the others glanced at his general direction, struggling to suppress surges of laughter. It was the seat that Joseph, himself had sat in the previous day. The young bookworm raised an eyebrow, appearing as if the distraction had annoyed him. Quickly resuming his reading, a small grin appeared on the young mans' face for but a moment. Now that the monotony of endless study had been broken, Joseph noticed his stomach rumbling. It was definitely time for lunch.
Joseph was well aware of his tendency to lose track of time. It only made sense to plan ahead. He needed something to pull him away from his own little world... something that reminded him to enjoy the simple pleasures that life had to offer. Besides, skipping meals was bad for his health. This was just his own way of keeping life interesting.
