"I bet you're expecting me to beg for my life or make some sort of deal," Terza replied. If the cut bothered her, she wasn't showing it. "But I'm no fool. You can't let me walk away from this even if I trotted out the juiciest of morsels. So instead, I'm just going to say this: there will come a day when something unholy lifts its head in this world again. I don't know when, I don't know what--I only know that it will belong to Evil as I do. Maybe it will be one of your precious mortals. That's how all this started, isn't it?"
"And all I ask of you is that you turn a blind eye."
"Why?" Soahc asked softly but from his intense gaze, Terza had his interest.
Terza shrugged slightly, carefully, and grinned her soulless grin. "Because it will amuse you to do so."
"You pose an interesting point," Soahc replied, lowering his sword a little. Terza's grin widened. Soahc snapped his jagged-ended weapon back up and shoved the sword into her mouth, past those smiling teeth, and out the back of her head. "I look forward to the interesting times!"
Osane managed to get a hold of the rearing centaur, upending him. He landed with a heavy crash and pained, indignant sounds. But before she could do more, the other centaur fled.
The same with Terza's demons and what little remained of Nyara's. The attack that struck Neil was not negated however--just as had happened to his sword, ice coated his arm and began to creep up towards his chest and neck at an alarming rate. The ice was so cold, so terribly bitingly cold, that it felt as though someone had shoved his arm into the heart of a blazing furnace. His regeneration healed the damage only to be damaged again; there was no relief, no sudden death of his agonized nerve endings.
Efil paused at a considerable distance from the rest and looked at Nalani. "Stay here," he advised her. "You should be safe."
"What if I'm not?" Nalani asked breathily, heart pounding wildly.
"It looks like the opposition is retreating. All that is left is Tiakara," Efil noted, shielding his eyes as he surveyed the battleground. "If she has minions, I don't see any of them." Which was odd... But given the size of the demon lady, he wouldn't have been surprised if the behemoth had simply eaten anything foolish enough to get close. "I'll keep an eye on you from afar. Just stay put."
"Yes my lord," Nalani whispered as Efil hurried to rejoin his siblings.
~Soahc, come, we must gather for this final threat~ Etaf instructed.
"That's one big demon," Worg quipped as Tiakara drew nearer. "It's going to take some time to get any wounds that would be considered killing."
"Not to mention we must tread with care," Thuoth added. "I highly doubt that our host bodies would survive consumption, even with our divine energies to protect it."
Etaf narrowed his eyes and tensed, causing the other Forces to do the same. "If you get caught in a tentacle, do whatever you can to get free," he instructed in a terse voice. "That's how she feeds herself. Presuming you don't get crushed to death." ~Chosen, you must leave this area unless you wish to risk your life and limb fighting this monstrosity. Return to the fringe or seek death.~
"Any weak points?" Taed asked.
"Somewhere deep within its massive body is a heart that beats, I have no doubt," was Etaf's clipped reply. "Jump!"
Anticipating their seer-brother Seeing something, the group scattered just as a massive tentacle slammed down where they had convened. Worg was the first to recover, leaping on the tentacle as it pulled back from the ground and nimbly running up its length before the demon lady could curl it back in on herself and try to grab the swift-footed Force.
Taed made for a straight dash with Etaf at his side. Thuoth decided to move around in a wide arc to position herself at Tiakara's other side, soon joined by Efil racing alongside her.
From where Soahc was flicking Terza's blood off his sword, he whistled once, long and low, before remarking cheerfully, "Guess that means I get the rear. A nice big rear too."
