Twilight felt weary down to his bones. On one hand, he was eager to see his family.
On the other... There was so much left behind in Anarlina.
People hadn't been happy about his leaving. HE hadn't been happy. But he'd taken in each member of the council and explained things to them in as much detail as he could. He wasn't sure they all believed his part in things, but most of them did, or at least acted as such. It helped there were other Chosen to confirm his excuse for leaving when Anarlina was in such a sorry state.
At least their mounts were stylish. He and Nalani got to ride upon snowy white griffons that moved with grace and power that was unmatched by any mortal mount he knew of. As their escorts, Ryder and Sain were given mounts as well. Ryder's matched Nalani's, but Sain road with his son in a pale horse-drawn carriage made entirely of gold and pearl.
Morrigan sat side saddle gingerly upon a destrier of grey, dead looking flesh but with softly glowing blue eyes and hooves that exuded a heavy fog. Its movement was soundless and she swore that its gait was as gentle as a cloud.
And Zira's 'mount' was... Well, a flying carpet. At least, it had the texture of carpet, soft to the touch and very comfortable to sit upon, but it had the appearance of an unrolled scroll.
They'd slowed to a brisk trot now that they were near the Sanctuary (or in Zira's case, an easy glide.) Nalani urged her griffon to move alongside Twilight's. "Your Majesty... I hope you know that no matter what, Anarlina knows her king, whatever he does, is doing it in the best interest of the country."
Twilight blinked and smiled gently at her. "Thank you, Nalani."
