Riding out the Storm (Plot/Open)

[Kender Bard]

"Of course not," Desira answered. Wait. He said we. "You're a Clear too," she whispered with a fiendish grin. "Ha! That's good, then. I don't know a lot about Clears but I know we're dangerous in groups. Maybe we should ensnare some people anyway and use them as guards or something."

[Skittlebug]

Nico purses his lips at the slip, but there's no time for that now. "That was my thinking, but we can't be looking for people. Lets try and slip between the buildings, less chance of groups there."

[Kender Bard]

"Good idea," Desira agreed.

Together, they quickly located a lone man wandering. This one was in half a daze, beginning to shake off Lilth's influence, but he was still disoriented. He glared at the pair and backed away a little.

[Skittlebug]

Nico narrows his eyes at the man. "Come here."

[Kender Bard]

"Now!" Desira added. The man jerked, as if on strings and obediently walked over. Then got the bright idea to try and strike them.

"Stop!" she ordered but he swung. She squealed and ducked. "He's yours!"

[Skittlebug]

Nico rolls his eyes and issues a series of quick commands. "Do not harm us. Do not leave us. Keep us from being harmed." He glances out from the alley to see if there's a general direction the crazed citizens are headed in, so they can go in the opposite direction. It had occurred to him to return to his shop and home, but the large windows in front would likely just be an invitation.

[Kender Bard]

Most of the citizens seemed to be boiling outward from the general direction of the market. They spread outward, attacking with no seeming goal in mind, looting homes, turning upon each other. Virtually nobody was heading in the direction towards the markets.

Desira simply hung near Nico, keeping an eye out for wayward wanderers that she could ensnare for herself.

All right then, not toward the markets. Nico has the ensnared man take the lead as they slip back into the alleys, heading away from the markets. "What a mess..keep a sharp eye out for anyone coming from behind."

[Kender Bard]

"All right," she agreed, glancing over her shoulder. "Why are we going this way? My home is this that way." She pointed towards the noble district, near the markets.

[Skittlebug]

Nico frowns at her, "Look at the way everyone is going, they're all coming from the markets. It's bound to be worse, and we can't afford getting mobbed."

[Kender Bard]

Desira made a face, as though she were going to argue the point, but then sighed abruptly and nodded. "Where do you live?" she asked. She spotted a young woman nearby and crept closer. After barking out a few orders, she returned with another ensnared elemental in her power.

Nico nods approvingly when she snares the woman, then grimaces himself. "My home isn't far from the markets either, we're just going to have to find something that will make do."

[Kender Bard]

"You mean break into someone else's home?" she asked in confusion. Then she snapped. "Oh! The council building is as far away from the markets as you can get, in the north. I bet it'd be a good place to hide out!"

[Skittlebug]

Nico nods, "That sounds good, let's go." He keeps the ensnared man in front, just in case.

[Kender Bard]

The farther they went, the less trouble they ran into. Not only was there less sightings of the crazed citizens, but there was an increase in people looking merely dazed or confused, or otherwise frightened and hiding. "Looks like the rioting hasn't gotten this far," Desira noted.
