The creature yelps at its fur is singed, and wheels to try and get away. However it ends up slipping in mud and tumbling over, still right in her path.

Tanya tripped over the hyena with a startled yelp.

[Skittlebug]

The hyena squirms to its feet and lunges at her, catching her arm in its jaws and clamping down as Jengo closes in with a grin. Before it can do worse, however, there is a strange creaking and rumbling. Jengo's grin quickly changes to confusion, then concern. He makes a strange noise himself and suddenly turns tail. The hyena, following suit, drops her arm and runs after him, tail tucked between its legs.
