A Visit to the Desert|Clan Char, Naurorod

[Kender Bard]

"Yes," Teppo answered. "No finer horses in the world than Naurorod horses. Don't let those Ilyamen thieves tell you different. If you'd like to see them, we keep them penned up over there." He gestured vaguely to a wide area of ground where crude fencing had been erected.

Arash grins wide, looking toward the rough corral, "I sure would." He may not be able to speak very clearly with them but he was curious to see if they were very different from the horses at the temple.

[Kender Bard]

"You go on ahead," Teppo told him. "We've got almost all the work done. I can handle the rest on my own; and then dinner'll start!"

Arash grins, a little abashed, he hadn't thought at all about skipping out on what work was left. "If you're sure." He gets up with a small grin, and heads toward the horses to simply stand beside the rail and watch them. You could tell a lot about people by how they treated their animals and he was curious if the clan treated the horses as well as it seemed.

The horses were certainly kept well; though penned, their enclosure was very large and they had plenty of room to run around and graze at the sparse scrubby grass. There was a young clanner in amongst the horses, brushing and grooming them.

Charii, who had been keeping an eye on Arash from afar, rejoined him. "Aren't the horses pretty?" She pointed out Lars, the blood-bay stallion. "That's my Daddy's horse, Lars! He's really smart. But he's old too. Daddy doesn't ride him as much anymore. I'm still allowed to though."

Arash grins at the girl, "They are very fine horses, and well taken care of I can see." He reaches a hand out to see if one of them will come to meet him. "Do you ride a lot?"

[Kender Bard]

"All the time," Charii agreed. A Palomino mare walked over, curious at the newcomer. "You have to know how to ride in the clan; even the little kids practice."

"Hello lovely," Arash holds his hand still for the mare to inspect. "I've never ridden myself, not much need for it back at the temple." He raises a brow to Charii, "I suppose I should learn while I'm here, hmm?"

[Kender Bard]

Charii seemed shocked that someone would have never ridden in their life. "Oh yes!" she said firmly. "Would you like me to show you to our riding teacher?" Generally only the children needed to be put under instructional care but this was a rare case.

Arash chuckles at her expression, "Well I should think so if it's that important. Lead the way."

[Kender Bard]

Charii did so gladly, heading back amongst the tents, weaving around until she spotted an older woman stirring a pot. "Keysha, where is your husband?"

"Helping some hunters bring in a large kill," the woman said. She glanced around. "In fact I see he's returning."

An older man with lighter skin and blonde hair that spoke of a mixed ancestry (or an immigration) came to the tent and kissed Keysha on the cheek. "Little heiress, what can I do for you?" he asked.

"Arash," Charii prompted, "This is our riding instructor, Edvard son of Aniru. Edvard, this is Arash, our honored guest. He doesn't know how to ride!"

Edvard raised a brow and looked Arash over. "Do you wish to learn?"

"Well from what I've heard this is the best place to learn," Arash smiles, "It certainly wouldn't hurt to learn while I'm here."

[Kender Bard]

Edvard smiles and nods. "Very well," he agrees. "If that's what you wish. It would probably be best if you weren't placed with the little children so you would be privately tutored. I'm busy most of the day but I can teach you a few things around sunset if you like."

"I agree with you there, though I'm sure they'd enjoy the laugh. Where will I meet you then?"

[Kender Bard]

"By the horses," Edvard instructed. "We'll start tomorrow."

"If you want, I can attend with you," Charii offered, smiling. "Then you wouldn't have to learn alone."
