"Hand isn't really an assassin in that sense," Pala explained as she began wrapping his chest in bandages. "He does kill people, but not on request or contract. I think he just does it random. He'll see someone being brutalized, step in, kill whoever is perpetrating things, and then help the victim get back on their feet. If you want to kill your father, you'd better save your coppers and hire someone else."

Striker grimaced; he didn't have much in the way of resources now. It looked like he might end up having to find a pair of boots to lick. "How long do the bandages need to stay on?"

Pala went to clean her hands in a bucket. "Hmm, come back tomorrow or go to another healer and see how the skin looks beneath them. Then we'll know whether you need to be rebranded or not. If you don't, then the healing water should speed things a little. I'd say the rest of the week."

Striker got off of the table and closed his shirt over the bandages. "I'll come back tomorrow, then." The fewer people that saw the brand, the better off he'd be.
