"Faeries?" Letha asked, looking puzzled.

"Those are just baby stories," Robin protested.

Pixie however had tensed up and her fur fluffed up somewhat at the word. ~Fairies? You keep your sibs in the mountain if the fair folk are around, Aries,~ she told the boy sharply.

[Kender Bard]

Faeries are real? Aries thought to Pixie in surprise.

"I'd only read about them in books about other fantasies," Aries admitted.

Evalyn pulls her hand back a little and looks up to Letha, wondering if she'd done something to upset the cat.

Jane nods, "That's what we all thought at first too. But a bunch of them came out of the Beastlands and asked Milady Layla to let them live near us. Some people have even seen them!"

[Kender Bard]

"What do they look like?" Aries asked, unable to hold back his curiosity. "Are they tall and beautiful with wings like a veil? That's what I've read. I've also read that they're teeny tiny."

Jane shakes her head, "Not all of them, from what we've heard, some of them are very pretty but some are strange looking. Almost like Beasts, I suppose. I heard one person talking about little ones too, I forget what they called them, but they bond with a human and then that human turns half faerie!"

Evalyn stands up, interested by the prospect of sharing stuff that the other children didn't know, "One of the people in the inn called them feylings!"

"They're here inside the mountain then?" Aries asked. "You said near. Or are they closer to the Beastlands?"

It would be good to know how near the threat was. If they were a threat. He gave Pixie another odd look.

Pixie leapt up onto one of the beds, her tail twitching irritably. ~My sister, Secret, encountered some of the fairies before rebonding,~ she told Aries. ~She warned us about them. They don't like our kind, the spitful, jealous creatures. Consider us a corruption. And from what I know of them, they don't like humans. I don't like this talk of bonding with humans and turning them half fairy.

"I'd like to see a fairy," Letha murmured wistfully.

[Skittlebug]

Jane thinks for a moment, "They're outside the mountain, but not far. I guess they're a little closer to us than the Beastlands."

Evalyn nods at Letha, a little pouty, "I would too."

[Kender Bard]

"I don't know," Aries cautioned the twins, his mind racing. He actually was very interested in seeing one of them as well but he'd rather not risk his siblings to the matter. "In my stories they were very spiteful, tricksome creatures." Which wasn't a lie; often times they were. Though the stories also said sometimes they would grant wishes and fulfill your wildest dreams. He wasn't sure how much faith to put in any of the stories. "Nothing but trouble and pain."

"I just want to see one, not talk to it," Letha protested. "They can't trick us or anything if we're just looking at them, can they?"

Jane eyes her sister and Letha and chews at her lip, "I don't know, muma still doesn't want us going around there..."

Evalyn pouts up at her sister, "But muma said we were supposed to show them around if they wanted, doesn't that count?"

[Kender Bard]

Aries was quick to side with Jane. "Well I don't want to get you two in trouble, so maybe today we can just play in the mountain and then later we'll ask both our parents if we can go see the faeries."

Then Pixie could tell Acqua and Acqua could be the one to push the notion out of Letha's mind.

"All right," Letha agreed after a moment of thought to decide if she'd throw a fit or not over not getting her way.

"Let's go play hide and seek," Robin suggested, looking slightly relieved that his twin wasn't going to start her usual deafening crying.

Jane smiles at Aries, "I like that idea too, and besides there's lots of places to see in the mountain."

Evalyn grins and grabs hold of Letha's hand and starts for the door, already having decided that out of the bunch she like her the most, "I know some really good spots to play hide and seek, I'll show you!"

Aries flashed Jane a small smile. "So do you have to look after your siblings a lot?"
