Bael grunted as Demetria took off. Stupid woman, thinking he meant her to go too, no matter. He soon noticed the fugly faerie charging towards him and let out a loud bellow as he shifted his weight before charging towards his opponent as well, leading with his shoulder to strike the creature in the chest rather then lead with his horns lest he leave his face vulnerable to any tricks it may have in store.

The hulking faerie t hat fought with Bael grunted at the impact but only fell back a single step. Not only was he massive, but he was heavy and strong as well. With a low growling sound, the faerie made a swiping motion at Bael's gut with his claws, hoping to eviscerate the bull-Beast with his knife-like claws.

Once the area was clear between them, Aran lowered his head and charged at Sloan, whipping his head back and forth a little in hopes of simply cutting the Beast up on his weaponized horns.

Thavan settled himself down and began to pick enemy feylings and faeries off with his bow and arrow, falling several enemies with his wicked aim.

~Bael!~ Demetria cried out as she flew over him and witnessed the clash. ~I'm coming to help!~ That fool couldn't get himself killed now, not when they were close to their goal. She began to swoop down, hoping to land a surprise strike on the enemy faerie. Before she got halfway to them, something heavy landed on her back and she went tumbling out of the sky. A long, skinny faerie with a stretched look about him rode on her back until she was about to hit the ground. At the last moment, he sprung away like a grotesque grasshopper and Demetria struck the ground hard.

As the faerie's swiped his claws at Bael's gut, he manages to grab his wrist but was either a little too slow or not strong enough to match the faeries strength completely and the claws sink into Bael's gut a little before he rears his head back and attempts to headbutt/gore the faerie.

Sloan skids to a stop at the last instance and grabs at Aran's horns, bracing himself against them and twisting hard. Blood begins to flow from many place where the tipped horns grazed or pierced the elk's flesh, but he needed to get the creature off balance.


As the Belegites charge into the enemies, most of the group of Seere Guards how had slipped around the fighting begin to do much the same as Thavan. They strike from afar with bows, providing some aid for the fiercer warriors. A few begin frantically rounding up what villagers they can, following frantic screams into burning houses and searching among the fallen for survivors.

Beorg bursts out of a newly burning building carrying a child in each arm, wide eyed and screaming for their parents. The other surviving elders follow, equally burdened with children, with a group old enough to run for themselves herded between them. They make a collective run westward, trying to get out of harm's way.

A blueish blood squirted from a wound as Bael manages to gore the creature. It is by no means finished, however, and whips its own head around to try to scratch Bael's face with the sharp spines on its frill.

Aran's head twists from Sloan's wrenching, and he stumbles a bit, but he reaches out with one large hand to grab at Sloan's neck, snarling as he does so.

"Go eastwards!" Thavan shouts at the Elders as they pass near his vantage point. "We've swept through that area and you'll be looked after by the rear guard!"

Bael jerks his head away but fails to come away unscratched as a few of the spines cut across his face. In response he tries to smash one of his hooves onto one of the faerie's feet before attempting to throw his strength and weight against it to try and knock him down while his foot is potentially pinned.

Still holding onto Aran's antlers, Sloan aims a hoof at the side of his ribs, kicking hard and hoping to land a hit before he loses his own balance. The faerie had an edge over him, that much was apparent and the elk needed to do as much damage as he could quickly.


From his perch, Thavan can make out most of the battlefield, including a young Seere Guard searching through the wreckage of his home and suddenly dropping to his knees in shock in front of the bodies of the mate and child. The man doesn't even see the feyling that cuts him down.


On the other side of the battle Faolan tears into the faeries and feylings as the great wolf viciously protects a small knot of villagers who are pinned down between burning buildings.


The elders are startled by Thavan's sudden shout, but quickly turn northward, to skirt the battle before heading to safety. As the group passes near the tree Thavan is in, however, a branchlike arm darts out of the tree itself and snags elder Verk's leg. The bongo topples with a yelp, the girl he'd been carrying skidding onto the ground and starting to wail, terrified. Verk lashes out with his free leg and claws at the ground but before the others can react a second hand lashes out and the elder is pulled through the trunk of the tree as if merging with it. The old man twitches and gurgles for a moment before going limp, blood seeping from his mouth.

[Kender Bard]

The faerie struggling with Bael howled in agony, stumbling back and falling from his own trapped, smashed foot. Although he went down hard, his tail whipped around with a powerful swing at Bael's thigh and side.

Aran shouted in pain as Sloan's hoof connected with his side. But while Sloan went down, Aran managed to stagger back up uneasily, heaving up with all his legs. Bringing the sword-wielding hand around, he tried to score a quick, clean stab through Sloan.

Thavan leapt off the tree and landed with a grunt, horrified by what he'd seen. Was the tree itself a faerie!? He sunk three arrows into its trunk just to be sure. "Go! Run!" he told the rest of the group. "Don't stop running!"

Bael cries out in pain as the club like tail struck him in the side/thigh, causing him to stumble to a knee. He was about to get up when he feels a pain quickly spreading from the cuts on his face from the faeries spines and instinctively places a hand to the wounds only to feel a sense of disgust and horror when some flesh sloughs off on his fingers.

He let's out a panicked yell as he begins to dig his fingernails into the spreading rot, trying to tear it from his face.

Sloan grunts and rolls, the sword biting into the outside of his arm instead of his body. The General clenches his teeth and snatches his dagger with the other hand, swinging it upwards toward the faerie's underbelly.


Verk's mate Deirdre stands in shock, staring at his body in horror. When she doesn't seem inclined to move Beorg cuffs her, "Time for that after, go!" She grabs one of the older boys to pick up the fallen child and bellows for them all to move, taking up the rear herself.


Thavan's arrows seem to have little effect and the tree remains simply a tree for a few moments. Then, as he watches, a face materializes out of the bark. Seemingly made out of bark himself, the faerie grins wickedly with a pointed mouth that seems far too wide. Thoroughly enjoying the horror he's caused, the faerie reaches out of the tree again and proceeds to create an awkward puppet show with Verk's arms, giggling all the while.

Aran reared up as Sloan did, taking most of his belly out of reach, before bringing his hooves down hard at Sloan with a snort.

For once, Thavan wished he was a Fire instead of a Water. None of the weapons at his disposal would be of great use against this creature. Backing away, he nocked another arrow and quickly loosed it, taking swift aim and firing at one of the faerie's eyes.

The faerie gave a weak gurgling chuckle at Bael's horror and distress and swung its tail around to strike at him again while trying to free his pinned, crushed foot.

Bael stumbles from the tail strike, freeing the faerie's damaged foot. Panic and fear quickly begins to turn to anger, he begins to get up as blood poured down the side of his face. He briefly regrets losing his spear in an earlier battle and instead grabs a nearby chunk of wood from a destroyed building before swinging it with savage fury at the faerie.

Sloan twists toward Aran and braces himself, keeping his own antlers upright just about where the faerie's underside should come down, risking Aran's hooves for a chance at what he hopes is a weaker underbelly.


Having been expecting as much, the faerie melts back into the tree as soon as the bow moves. Immediately he grabs Verk's body and shoves it at Thavan, then leaps at the Beast himself, claw like hands aimed for the throat.

The faerie began to scramble back and up as well but was taken off guard by the improvised weapon and went down hard again from the blow. For a moment, the faerie was stunned senseless--a prime opening for Bael.

Aran fell for the trap, and bellowed loudly in agony as Sloan's horns ripped into his underbelly, although he got the consolation prize of putting the full weight and strength he had on the hooves smashing down on Sloan.

Thavan ducked down, one hand slapping at his Water sign. He was unable to get out of the way of Fine, only managing to twist out of the way so that Fine did not get to grab on to Thavan's throat, though the claws did rake across the tender flesh--but it was not enough to tear out his throat, only leave bloody and painful looking scratches. He lifted up both hands and sent a powerful blast of water at point blank range at Fine's face in retaliation.

Bael doesn't waste any time raising his new club again before bringing it down on the faerie before him as many times as he can manage before it manages to react. "Die!"
