"I am the master tailor Zet." Calan answered, feigning concern over the man's annoyed state by wringing his hands. "Is there anything I can do for you sir?"

[Kender Bard]

Fausta paused her work to watch; this was the first time she'd seen Calan's acting for real. Cloak had handled most of her training in that regard, and though she'd seen Calan provide tips and examples, she'd never really seen him at work in this way before.

"There are rumors going around involving my household that imply I've been seeking an affair against my wife's wishes," the man replied, eyes narrowing. "And I've heard that the rumor started from here."

Calan put on a distressed look while internally holding back a wince. ~Stupid child, making the rumor come from here...well it's not the worst thing.~ "I'm dreadfully sorry if my gossip has caused you anger sir. I was merely passing on a rumor I heard, I simply must have heard wrong. If I may ask, what is your name good sir?" He makes a show of forcibly making himself cease wringing his hands and calm himself. "So that I may attempt to make amends by helping stamp this rumor out of course."

[Kender Bard]

The man still looked affronted but a bit more mollified now. "I am Coben Mallowburne."

Our mark! Fausta thought with glee.

"Though I'm not sure what you can do to fix my tarnished reputation," he added sourly.

Calan chewed his lower lip for a second before speaking again. "I'm not sure how much it might help, but I suppose I could offer a discount on any article's of clothing I can make for you?"

[Kender Bard]

"Discount?" the man retorted, though his eyes began to wander to a bolt of Rondian silk that they'd picked up. "How about a free dress for my wife?"

Calan bowed his head low and spoke with just a tiny bit of hesitation in his voice as though he didn't want to submit to that idea. "Well..yes, I suppose I could do that...could you send her in at her convenience to select something or would you rather have this taken care of more swiftly?"

[Kender Bard]

"I will send her," the man replied, looking smug and triumphant with having cowed the man into giving him a free dress for his wife. "For now, I have some important business to attend. I trust I will hear no more slander from this place?"

Calan nods eagerly. "Of course not sir. I will do all I can to silence any rumors I can. I would hate to attract further negative attention." Calan sighs a bit. "Do you know what sort of styles your wife prefers so I can present as good a selection as possible?"

[Kender Bard]

"She's always wanted a sontief," he replied, musing. "But if that is too much trouble for you, then a simple sheathe dress will suffice. One with a nice wrap about the shoulder and waist; something fetching and bright of course."

Calan thought about that for a second before nodding thoughtfully. "Yes...yes I think I can manage that..I'll use my finest materials for this in fact.." He looks at the man and bobs his head again. "It will be my top priority sir. You have my word on it."

[Kender Bard]

"Good," Coben answered, clearly mollified. "Excellent. Thank you for being so civil. Now if you excuse me, I have other business to attend to today." He bowed his head politely and walked off. Fausta waited until he'd disappeared from sight before coming to stand near Calan.

"What now?" she asked softly. "Do you want me to follow him? Or should I simply inquire after his residency?"

Calan turned to Fausta and gives a shallow nod. "Follow him if you think you can do so unnoticed. I will have to continue working here until the time comes to strike. I would like to have this finished by tomorrow if possible."

[Kender Bard]

"Certainly in the realm of possibility," Fausta remarked and slipped away lightly.

Hours later, she returned looking triumphant. "I know where he lives," she reported. "And it looks like it'd be fairly easy to break into, especially if you're willing to do a little climbing from the outside."

Calan allows himself a thin smile. "Good job. We'll have to prepare the proper attire and equipment. Since you have already seen the house, do you have any suggestions on how to modify the plan?" He asked.
