Atarai began to walk away but a sprite flitted in front of her. She cast the little faerie a look of annoyance until it whispered in her ear. Then she just looked grave. "Child, go to Rive. I will talk to you later." She shot her consort, Aran, a look and the antlered centaurian man followed quickly behind her as she strode off towards the east.
"That was unusual," Rive noted. "Though no reflection on you, child. It seems she has more pressing business."

"You didn't do wrongly in what you did do," Rive answered. "Come with me." She began to walk off at a leisurely pace. "No one expects you to know the proper way of going about things. When you are approached, you should wait for the other individual to speak their full name. Then you speak your own. Afterwards, you use either their full name if you are being polite or formal or if you do not like them... And they will do the same. Otherwise, you may use their shortened name."

"When Atarai is able to speak with you again, you will be given a proper faerie name," Rive explained, moving aside tree branches with her staff. She was heading in a generally northeastern direction. "Though it likely will be a short one. In that case, you will simply go by that and if someone is displeased with you then they will make that known some other way."

"This is my grove," Rive announced, stopping once in a bit of the forest that contained a small pond but was otherwise similar to the rest of the forest. "This is where I rest or contemplate things and while you are my feyling it is where you will sleep and live when not at your lessons or duties."

Darcy looks around the grove, wondering where exactly she was supposed to sleep and begrudgingly admitting to herself that she was just going to have to get used to living outdoors. She walks to stand in front of the pond, this was nice at least, much better than just trees.
"I do like the pond," turning back to Rive she smiles, "when will I be starting my lessons?"

Darcy beams, "I did!" The flute was one of the few things she'd pressed her parents into letting her do that she'd actually enjoyed. She had packed the instrument, not really expecting to use it, but not wanting to leave it behind. "I'm not the best at playing it, but I've been practicing for a while."
The girl grins and digs out the instrument, a rather nice little flute. After a moment to go over what she wants to play, then begins one of her favorite tunes. While she could use some work on it, she isn't bad for her age and could likely become very skilled at the flute with some practice.
