Thelon glanced about to make sure he'd arrived safely and where he intended before immediately catching another nearby Mind's eye. ~I need Mikasi to take a look at the Honored Leader.~

The Mind's eyes widened a touch. ~Healer Mikasi is not here. He is taking a leave of rest in Khelek at the moment.~

Thelon rolled his eyes towards the ceiling. Never when I actually want him here, of course. He shook his head. ~Then contact the next most skilled.~

"Here we are," he announced.

Ann and Tuono looked around in curiousity. "Never expected to see the inside of Sensatia,[/i] Tuono muttered under his breath, prompting an amused look from Ann.

A moment later Aideen arrived with Flame and Alyssa. "I need to practice rapid long distance jumps more often I think," she muttered. "Uncle Thelon, would you mind if I claimed a guest room at your house for a little while?" She wasn't exactly worn out, but she wouldn't mind a brief nap either.

"No go right ahead," Thelon told his niece. "And thank you for your help, Aideen."

After a few more minutes of waiting, the Mind with whom Thelon had conversed with walked over and bowed to the group. "Healer Pyredi will see you. This way."

She led the way up up a couple flights of stairs, the building much more quiet away from the first and second floors. Though every now and then the quiet was punctuated with a sudden, distant cry or noise.

"Here we are," she said and gestured to a spacious room with faded tapestries hung on the walls. A middle aged man with short, curly reddish brown hair and bright, friendly green eyes smiled at them. "Come in, please, make yourselves comfortable. Master Thelon asked me to take a look at the Honored Leader...? What seems to be the problem?"

Unsettled by the sudden cries and noises and by having to deal with a strange setting and strangers, Ann retreated just a half step behind Tuono and stayed quiet; not an action normal to the spirited woman she normally was. The use of her title made her squirm slightly. It just didn't seem right.

Tuono squeezed her hand reassuringly and explained to the healer, "We're not sure entirely what happened, but Ann seems to have lost most of her memory."

"Well, we can't have that," Pyredi remarked lightly, trying to keep his tone upbeat and cheerful but not overbearing. "I think I can have a little look around if you'll let me. I swear on my mind-healer's oath to not abuse the privilege; I'll not go looking deeply into any thoughts or memories or the like unless I have cause to believe they are, in some way, impairing your health and mind." He normally didn't bother making that reiteration to people, but Ann looked nervous enough as it was.

Ann toyed nervously with her engagement ring, but after a glance at Tuono, she nodded slowly. "All right," she agreed in barely more then a whisper. The young woman was practically radiating tension.

It didn't help that over the past few months, she'd become more accustomed to being with only her family rather then dealing with other people.

"Sit," Pyredi instructed, gesturing to the most comfortable chair in the room. "Master Thelon, please take the children and leave us for a short while. The young man may stay."

Thelon glanced at Flame and Alyssa. "How about we go back to my home. Hm, Aly? I'll get you some sweets."

"Wanna stay with mummy," Alyssa protested, sulkily.

"Ann's going to be busy, Aly," Flame replied. "And it'll be boring. Let's go with Daddy and have some sweets. Then I bet my mummy would love to see you and she might even have some more sweets."

Alyssa was starting to look tempted. "We go riding?" she asked Flame.

"We'll see," Flame replied. "If we don't ride here, I'll take you riding first thing when we get back to Fira. Okay?"

"Okay," Alyssa agreed. "I go with Flame, Mummy."

"Well... All right," Ann agreed reluctantly as she took the indicated seat.

Thelon took the children in hand and teleported away, leaving the three alone in the room.

Pyredi pulled another chair up to Ann's side and gestured that Tuono could do the same. The man's sign was located on the top of his left pinky, and so all he had to do was fold his hands together. "Try to relax," he told her. "If there's anything more I can do to make you comfortable, just let me know. Now while I am in your mind, as I said, I will not go snooping but I will be privy to your surface thoughts. There's no easy way for me to do my work thoroughly and not hear them. Are you ready?"

Tuono also pulled a chair up to Ann's side and took her hand. "He's right, relax. You look like Aly when she sees a spider, only without the screams and tears. No one's going to bite, you know."

Ann managed a small smile, then took a deep breath. "All right, I'm ready."

"Then let us begin," Pyredi murmured and slipped his mind into Ann's.

He glanced around with mild curiosity for his 'setting' first. He'd found, through work with the Fires of Sensatia and other non-Mind elementals, that non-Minds were unique in their minds. Unlike Minds, they would never be able to explore and understand their own thoughts completely and so many did not have a real, true mindspace. Their minds were just like thoughts and memories hanging in a vast an empty expanse, waiting to be touched or moved or altered.

Other people, though, whether through sheer force of personality, a deeper understanding of themselves, or something else that he just wouldn't comprehend, had as rich and full of mindscapes as any Mind. There were some fledgling theories as to why this was. Pyredi personally felt, however, that the richness of the mindscape dictated the power of the Mind behind it. He looked around and gauged just how strong of a will he was dealing with.

There was a real Mindscape here, though it seemed somewhat less 'firm' then was usual, even for a non-Mind mindscape. There was a small, walled garden of the rare desert plants with an odd clear spot as though something was missing from that area.

Every so often though, the garden would become a fraction dimmer and darker and in those moments a person could almost see something else behind it, but it was very like trying to see through a very thick fog.

Interesting, Pyredi noted and wondered what was beneath. Well, that was for another time to pry. He investigated the 'missing' blank area carefully and then turned his attention to the wall. In his experience, walls were a sign of blockage and repression. He tried to see if he could scale it; usually he couldn't. The walls tended to grow taller the higher he went.

In this case, what grew taller was what was directly behind the walls, hugging them out of sight. When he moved up, a sheen of pure black reflective surface rose up with him, blocking him off from seeing more. What...? He reached out to touch the surface and drew back his hand. Physically, he even gave a small hiss of pain. It was as if ice had been poured into his mind. The worst freeze-headache he'd ever had.

He focused on not withdrawing reflexively and instead inspected the black barrier without touching. Everything about it felt wrong and, more to the point, foreign. But the more he saw the more worried he grew. Just before he withdrew from Ann's mind he paused and noticed a crack in the black, smooth surface. Crack was a poor word for it though; it looked more like a straight line, cut expertly thin. Frowning, he withdrew.

He rubbed his forehead. "How strange," he murmured. "There seems to be more at play than I anticipated. Multiple issues."

Ann blinked and looked puzzled, but it was Tuono who spoke up first. "What do you mean by multiple issues?" His tone was half questioning, half worried demanding.

"There are two walls in her mind," Pyredi explained. "And usually walls represent something that is being repressed or hidden or pushed away. 'Walled off' if you will. But the other thing I saw is difficult to explain to a non-Mind and which I have no theories about. All I know is that it has nothing to do with the problem at hand... Or at least I don't think it does. I'd have to dig deeper to see and we haven't really agreed to that. Though there is most certainly an area of memory missing. I'm not sure if it can be retrieved again without more work. All in all, though, I strongly recommend multiple sessions with me and agreement to let me work deeper to uncover what I can."
