Dahlia was alone. She had gathered together the scattered remnants of her force and fled to the east, but despite her best efforts they had been followed relentlessly by the Beasts. So, hoping to throw them off her trail, she ordered the zombies to separate from her, sending them to attack some small village in the hills as a diversion while she slipped away. Now she was alone in unfamiliar territory, and fairly certain she had missed any opportunity to join in the attack on Acoia. So much for being the advance guard, she sighed.
Unexpectedly, she heard a voice, distant but familiar, echoing in her mind. Soldiers of Taed, you have fulfilled your duty to your Lord. Go now, to eternal peace, to everlasting torture, or to the next day as befits you.
The vampire cursed, recognizing Thessa's voice. The zombies would now be returning to their graves. There went her diversion. She had to keep moving - where to, who knows. But of the options Thessa had given, only the last appealed to her. Touching her sign, she teleported away.

Shayna glanced back and gave a sigh and a rueful grin. "Hey, Rian, come on now, you need to keep up!" she called out to him with a wave of her hand. She and Rian had, for the past week or so, been traveling about Mount Humantis, visiting other communities and small villages. Shayna so that she could buy what they needed and Rian, at Shayna's urging, to play some pieces for the people so he could gain some experience.
"Now," she said, briefly consulting her map. "I do believe that there is a village around this area somewhere." She looked up and frowned, idly scratching the tip of her nose. "It might be over this rise, let's go."
