Locket took a moment to zip about her designated 'ball' space, grinning widely. While of course she hadn't gotten everything she wanted, she'd done well with what she had. Everything was far more subdued than she liked but she was trying to cater to the tastes of her people. Of course, concessions had been made to appease her, too. Dyed linen streamers in riotous colors had been strewn about to add a burst of color to what would have otherwise been a solemn looking setting.
Resisting the urge to stop and nibble on the food laid out on chilled platters, Locket finished her rounds and decided she was satisfied; which was good as there was no time to make any changes.
She paused by her poor attempt at ice sculpturing. It had been her intent to add a little something special to the decorations and she had tried to sculpt her House's symbol in ice. Except that she mangled it so badly that she had decided, instead, to just say it was a bit of Soahcian art. Next time I better just garner a favor from a real Ice sculptor.
Grimacing, she darted back to her bedroom to fuss over her outfit, a modest gown of light green that she'd worn at an Anarlina ball and had enjoyed. Satisfied, she went to wait somewhere and greet the first guests when they showed up. Being fashionably late to one's own ball is only important to people who care about being fashionable.
While she waited she ran through everything she'd read and learned about the noble houses of Khelek. A lot of it had required pestering Nagi but a good bit of it was also by good, old fashioned Curious snooping and asking around. Sure it wasn't subtle but at least it showed she cared enough to find out. She grinned to herself and bounced slightly in place. She was going to impress them all!
