Spring 1023

Kingdom Caelium - Talen'sul
Queen Lya returned to Skyheort this past winter, bringing with her Prince Dami and her new ward, Lillian Sanderson of House Melissan. What was supposed to be a peaceful season took a turn, when Lillian went missing and the Queen marched off to the mercenary guild fully armed. What happened and who was responsible? Well, even if the court doesn't know for sure, there's plenty to be said about it. Just don't believe everything you hear.
In more local news, one of the guards just collapsed out of the blue. Guardsman Aaron Ward shows no sign of illness or injury, and seems to have just...fallen asleep. Strange thing is, he can't be woken up. So...maybe less of a sleep and more of a coma? Nobody knows for sure, but he doesn't seem to be too bad off for a guy who can't eat or drink anything. And he's definitely better off than anyone who had the misfortune to fall asleep while flying.
Kingdom Caelium - Maelstrom
The Spring Feast has rolled around again, but one wonders how many people are in the mood to celebrate. After the heavy losses its military took in the war, Maelstrom is probably the weaker half of the kingdom these days, what with the sleeping sickness bringing down some of its remaining veterans and new recruits (along with citizens of every other class and profession).
Also, between the Lord of House Melissan's absence, the youngest daughter's disappearance in Skyheort, and the unknown whereabouts of the younger (and halfway legitimate) twins, it looks like House Melissan is the new House Calder. Better buy some flags to fly so we can keep up with who's where.
New Anarlina
Heath Brandt, only child of Lord Sain Brandt of the Beloved Knights and heir of House Brandt, has fallen into a deep sleep and can't be roused. After the death of Heath's mother in the demon attack on Neo'anar, one can just imagine what sort of state his father is in at this point.
This season, the holiday of Loveblush takes place. Originally a day of breaking down barriers to give proclamations of love in general, it is now a rather romantic holiday, with a focus on those too shy to confess their affections openly. Declarations of love are often given anonymously, and recipients find enjoyment in trying to determine who their admirers are or in leaving anonymous gifts of their own. With the invasion still in recent memory and the new sleeping sickness spreading, there may be a few more open admissions of affection than usual.
Khelek Crystalands
Yep. Still cold. But as spring arrives, it's going to be warming up a little. As the season progresses, the snow will begin to melt and the ground will thaw enough for planting to begin. But be careful. The thawing also means that ice over water is getting thin, snow up in the mountains is getting unstable and may cause an avalanche, and in the southern portion of the country, flooding from melted snow is a definite hazard. Watch your step and keep the noise levels down, kids.
Ekaitz
Still there, and that's all that can really be said at the moment.
New Morilanta
Empress Anarchy and Lady Fausta Adaez have both fallen to the strange sleeping sickness that has struck down countless others. Eyes are firmly fixed on the two houses as hopefuls watch for any opportunity to step up and seize any opportunity that presents itself.
Ronduin
Even the land of healers and healing water isn't immune to the strange sickness spreading across Naruta. Despite the days growing warmer, there may be a few less swimmers about than usual. Falling asleep underwater can be fatal, even to Waters.
Sensatia
The Healitorium has begun to work furiously to try and determine the cause of the sleeping sickness with mind healers of all stripes applying their knowledge to the patients they've managed to collect from within Sensatia. Currently, they are not turning away patients brought in from other nations. The mind healers have yet to release any information on the subject.
Mount Humontis
It's back to the surface for the farm folk as the planting season begins (at least for those who are awake to work).
The Beastlands
The sleeping sickness has spread to the south as well, and the more cynical Beastlanders wonder how long before Clan Beleg's people decide to dispose of their sleeping clanmates.
Naurorod
Things have been quiet in the desert since Clan Char's brief civil dispute. Ryuk and Aujira remain uncontested as clan Elders, and there have been no outbreaks of discontent in the other large clans. Now to see how all Elders, old and new, handle things as their people drop off to sleep and increase the burden on the rest of their clanmates.
Reave
What happens to a Clear's thrall when the Clear can't wake up to give orders? Let's find out! Also taking bets on how many folks will ensnare a sleeping Elemental and try ordering them to wake up.
Ilyamen
Although the sleeping sickness taking hold of Naruta has many people wary of a potential plague, most of Ilyamen's life continues on unabated on a grander level.
The Holy Lands
Acoia: Efil's home may see an uptick in pilgrims this year as friends and family of those struck down by the sleeping sickness seek to beg the Force of Life and her priests for a cure.
Lifegiver Day is in the first month of the season. It’s a private holiday that’s not observed much (you’d think the priests would do something about that), where people celebrate and give appreciation to their parents, their mothers in particular.
Athrug: Morrigan, one of Taed's Chosen during the war who ascended to the rank of High Priestess afterward, has fallen into a deep sleep. On the plus side, this may be proof that this isn't demon-related. On the minus, if even the most beloved of the Forces are susceptible in their Force's own home, how can it be cured?
Autus: You just know these guys are going to be snobs about the people falling asleep until it gets proven that strength has nothing to do with who succumbs.
Emotiday is this spring. Worgans spend the day examining their relationships to things - people, objects, themselves, Worg. The priests sometimes refer to the holiday as "Pruning Day," likening it to the mundane upkeep of a plant; shearing away withered and dying feelings to let new, fresh feelings bloom.
Etafians, who have no holy land: Oddly enough, there hasn't yet been a peep from Etaf's seers regarding the sleeping sickness. They're usually the first to know about stuff, or at least the first with insight.
Cailiday falls in the later part of the season. This holiday honors the greatest prophet of Etaf, Caileigh Seersight. Caileigh was amongst the first priests of Etaf and foresaw events that, to this day, have yet to come to pass. Her prophecies are guarded, kept only for the high priest to handle.
Mentis: Plenty of pilgrims here, too, from healers and faithful hoping to dig up some clue about the spreading sickness.
Debate Day is this season. The priests of Mentis convene for a week long (sometimes shorter, never longer) debate in the Debate Hall. The high priest of Thuoth will put forth a question and invite all of the priests to participate.
Flux: They're just picking up the sleepers and chucking them in with the Slothful, mostly.
Unholidays everywhere! Celebrate whatever you want, however you want! Also, at the start of the year, the high priest will commence with the traditional throwing of the dart (or whatever passes as one) at the calendar to set the date for this year’s Chaoflux holiday.
