There's some things you don't talk about, Timble thought. But if he won, the man would go away. If he lost... well, he could always just lie. Pushing back from the desk and standing, he gave a curt nod. He was bored anyway. "You're on," he agreed. "This way."

"You're gonna beat him up?" Seth asked his father in glee as Timble headed to the sparring room.

[Devon]

"Not so much beat him up, maybe rough him up a little," Darin said to Seth as they followed Timble. "You know if I had an ordinary job like a tailor, I'd be concerned by how much you want to see me fight a man son."

[Kender Bard]

Seth grinned at Darin. "Your stories are great. I just wanna see you acting out what you do in those."

"Not everyone can win everyday," Timble remarked as he put his dagger on a rack, taking off a couple wooden ones. He bent down and shoved them deep into a bucket filled with chalk so they were coated. "Today, I'm gonna win."

[Devon]

Darin looked to the rack and decided that he'd match the young man with dual weapons as well. Grabbing two longswords he coated them in chalk the same as Timble did.

"Your attitude is admirable, but I don't intend to lose in front of my son. It's a selfish trait of most fathers, wanting to impress their kids and I was already selfish enough to begin with. Now are there any rules I need to know of?"

[Kender Bard]

"Don't try to kill me," Timble replied. "No endangering use of powers. Other than that? Nope." He kept his daggers out and ready, moving light on the balls of his feet. Softly he chanted, though from the corner of his mouth as he pressed his lips together to touch his signs.

[Devon]

Darin tapped his sign, there weren't many ways he could use Fire without endangering the boy, so for now if he used it he'd do so just as a distraction. "I think I'm boring my son now, so here goes," he said as he dashed forward, swinging one longsword at the boy.

[Kender Bard]

Timble danced back out of its range and then darted forward in a burst of Wind speed, veering off to the side abruptly in case Darin tried to skewer him, and his dagger flashed out at Darin's side as he went.

[Devon]

Tch. Darin hated fighting against Winds, they always had a tendency to be so tricky preferring quick bursts of speed in their fights over anything else. With his left hand he snapped his fingers bringing up a flame in the direction Timble was traveling. He wasn't trying to burn the boy, just distract him and throw off his aim. He shifted to his side slightly and swung his other sword at Timble, aiming to catch his back.

When he became startled by the flames, Timble stopped in his tracks but then dropped down on his knee--not that he knew that Darin had been about to 'sever' his spine, but out of pure luck. Slapping his palm against the floor, he released the rest of his energy in spreading a layer of ice beneath their feet, and then kicking out at Darin's leg.

[Devon]

Darin missed with his sword, hearing the thud it made as it hit the now ice layered floor. "Tch, you're an annoying brat you know that?" Darin said to Timble as he tried to step away from the kick, the ice on the ground was a problem though. Losing his footing Darin fell to his back, concentrating on his sign again he started the raise the tempearute of his own body to melt through the ice. With his free hand the Fire rolled over and threw a punch at Timble. "Just because you hit the ground doesn't mean you stop fighting Seth!"

[Kender Bard]

"Go dad!" Seth cheered, hopping up and down in excitement.

Timble grunted as Darin's punch connected. He latched onto the man's arm with his left hand and threw his right hand forward--still holding the dagger, trying to score a hit anywhere. In a close quarters combat, he knew Darin would have a harder time getting a lethal cut in with his sword unless he was lucky.

Darin shifted a bit to avoid a blow to the head, he'd been hit in the shoulder before by an actual dagger so it wouldn't slow him down too much to lose that point. Darin jerked back his arm to pull Timble towards him. Since his arms were locked up, he decided he'd use his head and headbutt the young man.

[Kender Bard]

Timble hadn't been expecting that and the hit connected his own head. He stared dazedly at Darin a moment, head throbbing and momentarily disoriented by the blow. "Ungh-ow," he groaned. Darin had a window of opportunity to turn the tides.

[Devon]

Darin quickly seized his opportunity, pushing away from Timble, Darin grabbed one sword and stood to his feet. Putting the wooden sword at Timble's neck he asked with a smirk on his face, "So are we done now?"

[Kender Bard]

Timble's eyes dart to the sword and he can think of a way out of it--using his Ice sign to create a hard choker of ice about his neck. It's not guaranteed to work against a real sword, though, and it'd be a pain to pull off. "I'll yield," he admits grudgingly.

"Daddy won!" Seth cheered wildly, hopping in place.
