As Talon left the city a voice called out his name. Flash, a pack draped over his shoulder, smiled - though he looked a little tired - and nodded to Talon. "Where are you heading? Talen'sul?" he asked. "Want some company?"

Talon gave Flash a half-suspicious look. "Aye," he agreed slowly. Then, after a moment of thought, asked, "Did Acqua or Mat ask you to come with me?"

He catches on quick. Or just knows his sister well, Flash thought with rueful amusement. "No one asked me for anything, Talon," he replied. It was somewhat true. Acqua hadn't so much asked as she had called in a favour with a slight hint of pleading. "I'm heading to Talen'sul to discuss the current situation with my brother," he added easily.

Half truths and lying with a straight face. Maelstrom diplomacy at it's finest.

Talon didn't look as though he was entirely convinced but he didn't press the point further. "I hope we kill every single one of those rotten birds." He seemed to wince. Softer, he added, "Even though it's wrong to feel that way. Rocs are aggressive but they're not... evil. But still." He shook his head slightly. "You've picked a poor traveling companion."

Flash shrugged slightly. "You've reason to feel that way," he replied simply. "And to an extent I agree. Talen'sul will be better off when they're gone." He smiled slightly and added, "And don't worry, I'd take righteous anger over a bored princess or a screaming baby - which is why I took this assignment myself."

Flash chuckled. "As fond as I am of Shadow's family, I prefer children who are old enough to explain what they want and who aren't bored Soahcians."
