Wondering the local Market|Skyheort, Talen'sul

Larissa, having decided to take some time to just have fun before deciding weather or not to get heavy into her investigations, finally came to the conclusion that the market place and some shopping would do her good.

She wondered around in her everyday clothes. A white blouse with a longer brown vest, a simple pair of tan pants and her knee high boots. Her Sai, tucked safely in her boots would occasionally glint in the sunlight, but for the most part remained hidden.

She had stopped off at a booth selling some clothes and was looking for something to make a new shirt with. Her long red hair was tied back in it's usual pony tail that sat high up on her head, her green eyes scanning over the offerings in search of that one good piece.

The merchant was busily straightening a stack of woolen cloth left over from the winter, careful to keep his mottled brown wings folded to his back and away from his goods. He didn't really expect the wool to sell, what with it being summer now, but it was there nonetheless. The was always the chance that someone especially sensitive to cold or who had the sense to want to buy it at a discount before it came in demand again would stop by.

He was a fair-skinned man, like most of Talen'sul's people, and was tall and lean. He was middle-aged at the least; there were lines around his eyes and at the corners of his mouth. His short, dark hair was greying at the temples, and his neat goatee was mostly grey. He glanced up and smiled when he noticed Larissa, the lines on his face becoming more pronounced with the expression.

"Good day to you," he said as he looked Larissa over. He was quick about it, though his pale blue eyes seemed to linger on whatever skin was exposed. Either he didn't see what he was looking for, or he had and was unconcerned, as his smile didn't falter. "Can I help you find something?"

Larissa's blouse was a little lower cut than most people would probably wear in her profession, and so as she bent over the table to look at the goods, there was fair sight to behold. Either she didn't notice or did care as she smiled back to him.

"Well, I was hoping to find a nice material to make a new blouse. Mine's gotten more than a little beat up, and I can't repair it anymore." She chuckled lightly. Over the right side of her chest just below the shoulder was a odd colored patch, close enough in color not to notice from a distance, but close up it was obvious. "I'm starting to think that white is bad idea now. Do you have anything that is sturdy and easy to wash?" She asked.

"Mm." The merchant glanced at her chest briefly, his expression more curious than admiring, and then let his gaze settle on her face as he spoke. "White's actually not too bad; you can just boil the cloth and not worry about losing the colour like you would with dye. But if you know you're going to need to do some patching, I'd suggest getting some extra material," he told her. "That way, the repairs will match better. Now, for this time of year, unless you're planning to head off into Khelek, I'd say plain linen or light wool is your best bet."

He gestured to bolts of each type of fabric. They were "white" in the sense that they held no dye, nor had they been bleached. "I've got some with colour as well," he added, "but dyes fade after a lot of wear and wash and even a patch of the same colour will show up then."

He looked back to Larissa, glancing over her again. "Ah, if you don't mind my asking, where do you hail from?" he asked. "You're not from around here, and you don't sound like anyone else from these mountains."

Larissa was deep in thought when she realized she was being asked a question. "Hm? Oh, I'm here on vacation from Ilyamen." She said picking up another piece of 'white" fabric. "The only thing I hate with white is that every bloody nose and stab wound shows up and doesn't come out no matter how often you wash it." She was saying absentmindedly not really caring if the man heard her or not.

She found a piece of dark, almost black linen material. "How quickly does this fade?" SHe asked. She'd never been the one to buy the stuff, her Mother always did that. She just made her own clothing from what they had in the house before she left. But after a year or so of running with Demon, her clothes had suffered for it.

Fate wandered into the market area, intent on finding a gift for his older sister's birthday. Since he came from a pretty big family and his eldest sister was the first born she had always helped raise the Fate and his younger sisters. He wasn't exactly sure what he wanted to get her, but hopefully he'd find something she'd like.

[Darastrix]

"With normal wear, the cloth'll outlast the dye, but that's because that colour's hard on the fabric. With how you're talking, you'd do better with something in dark brown or blue," he said, pointing out the goods. "This red-brown is good one for staying to the cloth."

"Ilyamen...," he mused as he waited for Larissa to peruse the items he'd pointed out. If she wanted the darker linen, he'd sell it, but if she was as hard on her clothing as she made it sound, he doubted it'd be a good choice. "I've never been there myself, though I hear it's got every Element all together. Even Clears." He pressed his lips together and barely repressed a sneer.

That made last bit made Larissa stop and look up at him. "Clears? Not that I'm aware of. Every other Element yes, but no clears." She said, sounding slightly surprised.

Larissa decided that's she'd go with his suggestions as far as the clothes went, and found one he'd suggested in a dark brown. "How much?" She asked.

The merchant snorted at her first comment, then eyed the fabric she'd chosen. "Ten copper," he stated. "And with Clears able to hide their auras now, do you honestly think there aren't any in Ilyamen? The land that's let a Clear village stand within its borders for years? You could be sitting at a bar with one and not know it these days. If you can't see a sign or some other hint--" He fluffed his wings. "--you could just as easily be talking with a Clear."

Catching sight of Fate, he waved to the young man. "Can I interest you in some good cloth this day, young master?" he called.

[Devon]

"Maybe you can sir," Fate said as he went over to the merchant. "Your opinion interests me a little more right now. I am trying to find a present for my older sister, but I don't know what to get for her."

Larissa handed over the ten copper to the man.
"Well I did say that I wasn't aware of any. And though I haven't heard any news of people being caught under their aura, I suppose that doesn't mean they aren't there. Personally I don't really care so long as they aren't trying to capture me. I'm more worried about Monsters in Caves trying to kill me than I am Clear." She shrugged.

She glanced over at Fate. "If you don't mind my asking. How old is your sister?" She asked.

[Devon]

Fate looked over to the woman and answered, "She'll be turning twenty-five." He didn't know how old the woman he was talking to was, nor did he want to be rude and ask, but he did believe she could be close to the same age. "Do you have any suggestions?"

[Darastrix]

The merchant just took the money and shook his head, muttering something unintelligible to himself, though the words "Clears" and "Storms" were plain enough.

Larissa shot a look at the merchant, but decided to leave him to mutter if he wants, she didn't really care.

She turned back to Fate. "Hmm. If she's more the lady-like type, and you know her size, a new dress in her favorite color might do well. Otherwise, you can never go wrong with a something small and shiny. Sometimes I buy them for myself as a cheer up." She suggested with a smile.

Fate considered his choices, he could guess his sister's size roughly and a dress could be taken back to be altered. Though getting her something 'shiny', as it was put would be easier, but it might cost more for him to purchase. "I'd have no one to be a good judge for a dress if I looked for one, but you look to be around her size. If you don't mind helping that is."
