[Kender Bard]

Fausta did not; she didn't feel like earning anymore beatings for the night. She was more humiliated than anything and once humiliated to her point, there was no lower. (Or so she felt.)

Cloak watched and then glided into the next room to speak privately with her brother.

[tuo]

Once Fausta was locked up, Calan left the room, closing and locking the door behind him as well before going to speak with Cloak. "Is there anything else you have to say that can't be said in front of the brat?"

[Kender Bard]

"I just wonder now what you're going to do with her," Cloak remarked. "Do you think she has potential or is she going to be, ha, aborted like some of your other failed 'children'?"

[tuo]

"You heard her story. If she killed her own brother in cold blood then she may have the will to join the family. However..it's her sanity and physical abilities that may be in some question. If she can overcome her weaknesses, then perhaps she won't have to die in the near future." Calan explained as he took a seat.

[Kender Bard]

Cloak glided around the back of Calan's chair and laughed quietly. "So in other words, you have no idea what you're going to do with her?" she taunted quietly.

[tuo]

"You know I dislike having situations dropped on me without forewarning. If you wanted to know what I'd do with her you would have followed protocol." Calan internally grimaced as she stepped behind him but gave no outward show it bothered him except a slight increase in tension, ready to react to a surprise attack. "You just wanted to see me out of my element with this."

[Kender Bard]

"Yes," Cloak admitted. "I did. Life is not fair, Calan, and surprises lurk behind every corner. Just because you need not always look over your shoulder to see if you're about to be discovered standing over the corpse of your mark doesn't mean you're free from that fundamental truth anymore than I am. But you did handle it well. Now my curiosity feels insatiable."

[tuo]

Calan remained silent a few more moments. He could leave her to squirm with curiosity for a while but that would serve nothing but irritate her in the long run. "She killed her own brother for killing Bastion, at least that seemed to be the case, I saw no remorse for Nissar at all and there was nobody else in her story who Shyamal killed." He rose from the chair and turned to look at Cloak with a small smirk.

"Can you imagine how useful such a twisted child could be if properly trained? We both had a pretty good idea what Bastion was like and this little monster killed family to avenge him." He finished while gauging Cloak's reaction.

[Kender Bard]

Cloak had her chin in her hand as she considered. "Dangerous to us," she warned. "Such a twisted mind might not be able to be bent to another master."

[tuo]

"Everything about our job is dangerous." Calan answered with a small smirk. "We simply have to make her bend to us. In the meantime the boys should keep a close enough eye on her to provide some warning at least."

[Kender Bard]

"You trust them enough now not to get out of hand with her?" Cloak inquired. "She's too young for some troubles but she'd make a good target for them to lash out upon in frustration."

[tuo]

"I don't trust anybody. You know that." Calan answered. "What I trust is there fear should they anger or disobey me." He gives her a warning look.

[Kender Bard]

Cloak just gave him an innocent look in return. "As you say, brother," she said, her skepticism heavy in her voice. "Then shall I take my leave?"

[tuo]

Calan waved a hand dismissively. "Of course. You can come and go as you please, you know that." However he paused his hand wave mid gesture. "..We can't afford to screw this up. We've been struggling to keep the business up recently, this is our chance to turn things around or die trying."

[Kender Bard]

"This family does not die," Cloak growled. "We will make this work, I swear." She lapsed into a more morose silence before simply leaving.
